Advice needed - windscreen cosmetics
Discussion
Has anyone got any bright ideas to help me with an increasingly niggly issue with my M400?
To the far right side of my windscreen, over a wiper run of about 14-15 cm at the outer arc of the sweep of the drivers side wiper, my screen glass has over the last few years got gradually scratched, so much so that its now become an issue for me as it's constantly in my line of sight. I think this is happening because the wiper blades don't stay in full contact with the screen - even though I have a new set fitted every year.
Am I looking at a new screen to remedy, or is there some old wives remedy for polishing said blemishes out without affecting the integrity of the screen?
Any advice will be gratefully received!
Rgds,

My car has the same scratch, although not visible from inside the car.
I'm sure someone will suggest some remedy involving vinegar, lemon juice, baby oil & bicarbonate of soda, etc, etc.
Seriously, I would have though it might be possible to polish out, but maybe anything course enough will just render the glass opaque.
Worth a search for a professional service? Maybe a smear of resin might work - the kind used to repair stone chips.

In order to successfully remove scratches you will need possibly an abrasive and then a polishing compound ( but not t cut or similar as that will make it worse. and forget all the old wives tales too ) . Its a high torque application that will get the best results which is why the DIY kits are not man enough for the job unless you want to write off the weekend trying to do it! A professional job will cost about £100 to do it which can be off putting to some but its the only real way. When you look closely at it there may be some scratches that are deeper than others and those are less likely to come out and will be highlighted by any polish which settles in them so avoid starting it without an exit plan as you can easily make it worse. Maybe post a picture of it particularly a close up one.
Thanks for the advice and tips guys. I'll speak to Autoglass first I think (or someone similar) and if they aren't able to help I'll perhaps get a vehicle detailer (I use Polished Bliss in Kintore, Aberdeenshire) to take a look and see what they think.
I'll let you know how I get on with before and (hopefully!) after photos too!

Kik can sort it out quite easily

any company that cuts glass should be able to polish it out
i spoke to a friend who works in the glass industry
"we use jewellers rouge which is a powder you mix with water. It can take out light scratches, but if you can feel it with your finger nail it will not come out."
