Hi all,

Anyone got a spare front splitter they want to sell?

I might be able to get some quarter-splitters but the option of the one piece one might be nice.

Don't mind having to paint it or fill in the odd scuff.

Thanks
Andy

Tux makes carbon versions. If not, Jetstream Motorsport should be able to help

yep, may try Jetstream then. Not sure about carbon if it's just cut from flat sheet. I prefer the rounded look of the original.
Plus, it may get wrecked the first time I try to get off my sloped driveway!
(yep, I know thats probably where a flat sheet one would help!)

The reverie one is 2 flat sheets cut then sandwiched with foam in the middle and a rubber trim round the edge. Its crap quality and overpriced IMO. my one is all broken at the edges and the carbon floor infill's are broken, TUX/Jetstream stuff is better quality and stronger from what ive seen.

Same as I have heard, tuxmans front splitter and infills are very good quality, also thinner than the original so give a tiny bit more clearance.

I think it's widely accepted that you're a carbon genius! I know you say it's just a case of following the instructions, but then playing the piano is just 'following instructions'!

Splitter does seem to be one of the simpler parts to start with though. Trouble is, I don't have a splitter to take a mould from.

Ok I only taught myself to do carbon last year, so hardly an expert etc

I also didn't have a splitter to take a mould from... I simply marked the shape I wanted on a peice of 10mm mdf, the cut it out and used the negative (waste) side, I glued this negative template to a large mirror and smoother the join with mould wax then pulled the splitter from it!

So no expensive mould and took me 1 day from scratch to finish... Worth mentioning there is very little carbon in it (only the top layer) it's mostly Kevlar and a foam filler to make it strong and impact resistant,

Will take a pick of the makeshift mould later today as have started making another...

And No I won't be selling any as I simply don't have the time to make and sell parts lol

yep I see, so the mirror is the smooth surface to give you the good topside finish.
and to get the rounded front profile it would be a case of cutting a concave edge on the negative- probably with a router.

Concave edge is made with mould wax and a round edge tool, you could do it with a router but more work for a 1 off lol.

Canards are reverie.

Here is a pic I took today as decided to make a carbon Kevlar mix weave one

Makshift Mould

Pulling resin into the part

Finished pulling the resin through an hour ago Hope to pull the part tomorrow night so will post pics of it then, I spent around 5 hrs on this today and it has taken around £150-200 of materials but it is much larger than what you would need for just the splitter ( mine is replacing all re underused alloy panels and the infills etc as well as a splitter).

Don't forget anything in the front impact zone should have a 4mm min round on it or a rubber edge .
