Went to a rolling road today
Discussion
Hi guys,
Since my engine rebuild in winter there has been quite a lot of changes made to my car and i get quite a few flames etc so mainly to test the new fuel system/regulator and everything else I decided to take it to a rolling toad today.
Sadly it was 27degrees in the building before turning the car on or running it so not great conditions to start with, by the end everything was cooking hot and the manifolds were glowing red.
low boost showed a solid 12psi of boost achieved by 3400rpm held right to the limit. AFR between 11 and 10.5 from 3500-7500rpm. Sadly power was only 470bhp@7200rpm and 375lb/ft so a bit behind where it was originally.
High boost run showed a steady boost of 21psi from 3900 till 6000rpm then tails off to 19psi by 7500rpm. AFR other than a blip up to 11.5 at 4000 rpm it stays around 10.8 through most of the revs then drops to 10 by 7000rpm. Again down, power is 565bhp@7000rpm and 460lb/ft.
Some of it is probably down to heat today but I think since my map was made a better more gradual increase in boost has found more drivability and as much power without the big kick of torque in the mid range. So hope to have that implemented soon to make things a bit easier on the race track!
The Dyno is a Dastek one and the guys themselves think it is a bit on the conservative side also, so maybe that with the heat today explains it. Otherwise a pretty good result, car is running well and fuelling seems fine if a little on the safe side.
Roll on the weekend so I can go and give it more beans, this weekend is rounds 2&3 of superlapscotland and there is possibly sports and saloons racing, however I don't see the point in racing when there's only 5 cars in the kmsc and it would be 48 laps of hard driving when I'd rather save the car for Anglesey the following weekend!
