Noble M12 - Sell or Keep.....
Discussion
Hi Folks
I'm seeking a bit of advice please.....
My partner died a couple of years ago leaving in his Will his beloved Noble M12. I learnt to drive on track in it and it obviously has MASSIVE sentimental Value to me. (Hi all you MotorSport Events Guys!)
I now have the option to buy it from his Estate but its sat unloved by his Executors for over 2 years now and I've been unable to drive it or care for it in that time. It will clearly need some money spent on it getting it back up to standard, but my question to all you 'experts' out there is should I hang on to it spend a good few grand getting it sorted or should I cut my loses and say a sad farewell. I guess what i'm really asking is - "Is it a keeper? Is it likely to appreciate in value in years to come or lose more money"
If kept I do plan to enjoy it but what i'm concerned to do with my limited budget is spend lots of money on buying it, fixing it and then find its depreciating in value....
Comments and thoughts please folks....
Thank you

It depends on how much is being asked. You're probably in the best position to get a good deal.
Whilst they do stiffen up a bit if left for a while there's probably not too much that would need to be done to get it up and running.
Pretty sure there are pople here who'd be happy to appraise it for you.
I wouldn't buy it as an investment though unless it's very clean, very low miles, once owned by Lee Noble!

Sorry about your news. There's no way of knowing if you'll need to spend £1K or lots more though so be aware that the cost to bring it back may be more than you think (or less of course).
The answer to your question lies with you - if its that sentimental a car then it'll be the only one for you due to the memories, etc. However, if its the fact that you want any Noble then you could shop around and see what's available. Check out the classified here.
Good luck
PS - that a nice thing to leave you - his P&J

sorry for your loss and cant really answer if its worth buying from his estate.... however it may help you to know that I bought my Noble 5 years ago for £23k with 11k miles on it and it was absolutelly mint... the same car now would cost £28-30k.
Like a lot of performance cars in this league they CAN cost a fortune to run if things go wrong, but if yours was used on track then it should have had the creases ironed out to allow it to do so reliably (track day sump etc etc) which suggests a good car.... you may be lucky that the tyres are still fine (some cars do similar mileage in same number of years... Im looking at you adrian lol) and you may just get away with an oil change and clean... but thats hard to know.
I love my noble and would never sell it so of cause Im going to be biased and say have the car

Thanks for your comments so far :0)
The car was well loved and well maintained. Last time we spoke about it he said something like " one of the turbos is blowing" so I guess I need to cost replacing one or both turbos.... Other than that never missed a beat and other than currently running on 888's the tyres are good.
It's a 2003 and I think I could secure the deal for 15-18k .......

Turbo refurb for both is about 1K but for just Over 2k u could fit better ones.
There are area couple of other things might want to do if not already done.
Change exhaust and fuel pump wiring.
Also a good check over and service.
After all this the car will probably be worth +25k depending on body work/mileage

If so, you should go for it. While no car benefits from being sat around doing nothing, there shouldn't be anything major that needs doing. Rubber bits, hoses, bushes etc may have perished but they are not expensive in the grand scheme of things. Go on... you know you want to.

Buy it, enjoy it, understand why your partner loved it and once you have it out of your system, release it to the world, this may take longer than you think, I'm 5 years in and still haven't got it out of my system The car was well loved and well maintained. You will not loose money at that price.
Btw my turbo has be blowing for over 12 months, its not the end of the world.
It has only stood for 2 years and I'm guessing its been in a warehouse?? don't see any real problems.
I wish you the best of luck with your decision, just one thing to think about, what would he want you to do??
Hi Nix,
I think we met on a few motorsport events trackdays. Sorry for your loss. Has the car been kept undercover during the time it hs not been used? If so then it should not be too expensive to get it back up to standard. The costs go up when you start upgrading things. The cars have been appreciating over the last 2 years, at 18K I would say buy it and enjoy it.
Having just got my car back on the road after almost 2 years I can say that there is nothing else like them. I would not swap mine for anything.

There's a lot of knowledgeable, helpful people on here that I'm sure would be more than happy to take a look at the car and give you a list of what needs doing, but at that price I can't see how you could go wrong. I agree with everyone else, buy it and keep it!
Roughly where is the car stored?

Morning all - thanks for your kind words and very useful comments.
The car has been stored in a dry secure warehouse for the last 2 years so its certainly not been exposed to the elements.
I think I'm picking up a theme here and the reality check is when one of you said "what would he want you to do" ........ My family will advise me to do something sensible with the money - he would have said "buy it and spank it" !!!!!
Nuff said really.
Andy - yes I remember you from the track days - was it a blue nobber??
Ok so being a complete girl - where do I take it for the work ? It's currently stored in the Brighton area - I live in Newbury now so a far stretch of locations I'd happily take it to - I seem to remember somewhere around hindhead but I'd welcome any thoughts on where to take it and not be mugged off !
Thank you so much for everything that's been written on here - I sincerely appreciate your time and kindness.

a noble is a car that needs a bit of tlc from time to time, however we all know the ins and outs of ownership so it is nothing to worry about
I too would recommend jetstream to go and pick it up
i am sure one of us from down south can have a look at it for you - it will almost certainly need a new battery and a service

Hi Nix
Im speaking from experience as I inherited my dads noble when he passed away a few years back.
For me it was a very sentimental car as we chose the spec together, as we did all his cars.
For that reason I couldnt see it sold. If it means that much and you are worried about cost, you will always find a way to keep it, because it means alot.
Im in surrey, i have had hit and miss experiences with Noble garages in this area, so now i use Bespoke Performance in Ware, north of london. However Tux's recommendation of Jetstream is a good option too.
In short, buy it, have fun in it and worry about it later :-)
