So the front turbo has been off for refurb, I've dropped the engine bay floor and given the car a right good clean underneath, re-wrapped some of the exhaust, new bolts from Jetstream etc. etc.

Feeling please with myself I ran car up to temp and I've got the smallest weep of water from the top water connection, its like a tear drop. After all the work re-fitting (pain in the a*ss) I stood looking at it for 10 minutes and decided to call it a day before I threw a spanner at something !!

So my question is, its a pain in the ass to get to these Banjo bolts with any kind of torque, I cant fit my 22mm socket over the bolt as a small bolt on the housing gets in the way (red circle) , the green arrow is the where the water leaks from.

I can only assume I have a crap crush washer / not tight enough - What are you guys doing when re-fitting this bolt ? On the car or off the car ? I struggled to get any grip on the turbo off the car and there is hardly any space to get my 22mm open spanner on it in the engine bay.

Is it just brute force ? Graham , Simon - What are you guys usually doing ?

Also - Is there an In / Out for the water ? One of the Banjo bolts is 22mm (M14 thread) the other side is a smaller head on mine, I read in the Garrett docs that the direction is not important? But why have a larger bolt head on one side ? The small bolt head would do much nicer here as I can get a socket on it !

Can I just bin the banjo / crush washer and use a fitting similar to the oil ? Much simpler!

Any advice or a link to a super thin wall 22mm socket would be great!

ETA - This link suggests orientation and direction of water is important :

New Copper washers, have a set of Ali washers as well which I could have used. Probably just not done up enough?

Thanks Rob, searching alternatives came up with this :

Socket with a 'window' ! That should do it.
