I hope you asked where the kits could be bought and what the expected build time is for the average hobby mechanic. :-)

I've heard it plenty of times, but this time around the fella emerged from the McDonalds with his small boy and said 'look at that car! it's a kit car'. I think he simply didn't know what a Noble was and went on to incorrectly inform the small boy.
Anyhow, kit cars are not what they used to be and I had a very nice Chesil Speedster for 5 years, which I loved. It simply annoyed me that he was wrong...he may as well have pointed to a Cheetah at the zoo and said 'wow, look at that Meerkat!'redcard

Such a silly statement, I mean any mondeos never spend as much time being fixed as yours punch

I've been asked a few times if its a Ferrari, I always say 'hell no, it's much faster than a Ferrari' lol

I always remember Jeremy Clarkson's comment about people dismissing the Jag X-type for being 'just' a Mondeo. "Well, your DNA is 98% the same as a Chimpanzee's, so the 2% is irrelevant then?"

I don't mind any of that banter, I regularly tell people I've got a "Mondeo Coupe". :-D

Plenty of low-volume sports cars use parts from another manufacturer, it helps keep costs down. Look at all the Audi gubbins inside a Gumpert Apollo, or the Nissan lights on a Diablo.

But yeah, it's a running joke. Nobody who's actually been in one continues to believe it though smile

Having just come from a TVR, I'm well used to the "kit car", "parts bin" attitude, so the relative appreciation that the Noble attracts is a breath of fresh air. Look what happened when TVR made their own engines - all of the chocolate parts led to expensive rebuilds. Best to stick to developing donar parts if you're a low volume manufacturer.

when mine was in a car show a few years ago a chap came up and asked me what engine wass in it? "Its a 3.0 v6 ford engine. Oh he muttered in a dissappointing tone, I thought it might have something from aston martin or jaguar in it. Irony that ford owned both at the time the car came out was lost on him.

Yes we have to thank Clarkson for his Mondeo comment on an old Top Gear years ago for that.

Any comments I have had regarding the engine I just say, "well you know the 6 litre Aston Martin engine in the DBS, that's the same block only there's two of them in the Aston"

Now run along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing Mondeo is the rear lights, heating controls, steering column controls and gear box but not the engine, we have the Maverick to thank for that....

I think, stand to be corrected!!! paperbag
