1st of all anyone on here in Noble Motorsport ATM ?

A couple of nice examples in there inc. an M400.

Anyway, back to my problem, I have a crack through the trackrod connection on the front hub.
I can see one a eBay for 600 quid, I'm tempted, but I was wanting to ask advice about welding, which companies, which process, estimated costs, any other advice.

Ps, I somehow lost my front clam pivot pin (& spring) are they readily available ?

Thanks,
Paul.

Paul. l wouldn't advise you have it welded as there is no way you could ever trust it, if you check back recent post you will see this can be caused by different taper trackrod ends. If your stuck l have a spare NSF that l would sell.

Not another one? Gutted for you as it seems to be a reoccurring issue, check the insert (the bit the trackrod end fits into) and see if that has cracked too otherwise your new upright will do the same. On the wiki it says to torque them up to 60nm but to me this seems way too high.

Kevin / gto600, I am interested, what sort of money were you thinking for the hub ? I have never used this private message before so I don't know how to use it !

I repaired a crack in one of my rears with welds but I definately wouldn't do a front especially around the track rod, I'm afraid your going to need a new one.

Don't however bin your one as metalman may have a use for it ;-)

Not strictly true, there are some talented aluminium welders around if you're willing to pay, it does end up costing about as much as a second hand upright, mind.

The issue is the local annealing of the upright when it's welded, so the area around the weld becomes soft... In some places this is acceptable, but in with Kev and would never accept a welded front upright
