Whats the little fob for?

I have not got a manual yet - any ideas what the little grey fob is for. Does it go in the thingy to the right of the wheel (left side of center unit (US car) with AC etc). What does that do?

Turns off the imobiliser & Alarm if the remote fob fails.

And, you'll need the manual and a crosshead screwdriver for instructions as to how to get into the car without the fob!
