I spose it depends on what you mean by 'go'
They could either fail by jamming shut or jamming wide open. jammed shut would mean infinite amount of boost and jammed open would mean no boost!

I have one that has failed and when I try to drive the engine won't pull at all and feels like it is miss firing. Just trying to find out if that's normal or have I done more damage to the engine? I had done a long trip the day before as I came of the motorway it felt like it was misfiring but only drove half a mile from the jct so but it down to me not the car. Went to drive the next morning and only got about a mile and turned back

What about sounds? by 'feels like a miss fire' do you mean the engine is hesitating? what was the boost gauge doing?

Hesitating driving along boost gauge won't go over 0 have just moved car to a safer place while I head home only had fumes coming out of one side of the tail pipes near side one it's the front waste gate that has failed

Almost certain I have a fault with the actuator checked all the pipes got my hand to it and it's still connected just worried about the misfire/hesitate. Wanted to check it was normal or if I might have done damage to the engine or cats ?

Cheers
