Has anyone ever tried to cover the dash in leather? If so, how did it look? Thanks.

Yes did mine, it's a dash out job and looks fantastic :-)

Isn't cheap though I'm afraid even if you remove dash yourself.

Thanks, some pics would be great. Could I ask who did the work and a ball park figure if they took the dash out?

Looks nice Matt. I have the same seats etc, Im changing the centre console to brushed Ali, and think I'll go for the black leather dash.

Thank

I think it'd look great if you could somehow lose the flatness of the centre dash. It's an odd shape, and I'm sure someone talented could reshape it to something more Aston-like.

Agreed, it would look good. I'll get a CAD guy to draw something up. I like the stitching in the Aston too.

Fancy doing me one too, for the idea? biggrin

I've been sitting on this idea for a couple of years but have no time or way of putting it in place. The main idea would to be to widen the centre to allow for a double-din sat-nav system, but the whole interior could be greatly approved if it could be done well without taking up too much space.

I'm sure it would look great but widening it would be too tricky for me, but adding a slight curve to the face and letting it flow into where the gears/hand brake are would be do-able. If I can make it work for me I could make them for others! smile

I think it only needs a few mil to be wide enough. I could do some sketches if you want. The biggest issue is finding out what's underneath so that you know what to work around.

You can do Chappers... Once the dash is out and I know what I'm dealing with I can plan from there.

Thanks

Ok..... Thinking about it, if I'm going to be covering the dash there could be a way of widening it. The console could have a flange which is fixed to the dash and the leather trim could hide it, just thinking out loud!

It changed the shape of the center consol and fitted a double din stereo, also changed the shape on top slightly.
The biggest headache with fitting the stereo is actually the chassis behind the dash which will need modfiying as well as dash shape.
Having it leather looks much nicer than the standard Matt paint, but that's just IMO.

Here's what I came up with earlier. You can see it draws inspiration from a couple of sources...!
