What happens when you have a wrapped manifold and develop a bad misfire, then keep driving...

This is the rear manifold, it was heat wrapped, the front was not and is fine. My misfire wasn't isolated to the rear bank, the whole ecu was shutting down for a second or two in tight corners because of a dodgy relay base on the bulkhead.

It's hard to see in the pictures but the pipes have actually ballooned and stretched with the heat before cracking.

This was a stainless steel Noble upgrade. Not inconel.

Had been on the car for 3 years+ 20k miles and raced, front one still fine.

It looks like the welding of the manifold support created a bit of a hot spot.

I believe wrapping it retains too much heat in the manifold, better to use some nimbus around it and let the air flow over it.

Not sure if that redness is from the wrap rather than the weld, either way it's proper goosed! Lol

Jesus that's disappointing, I'd hoped that stainless manifolds would truly be fit and forget but that one is utterly ruined, not just beginning to fail! I hear you about the wrap but it seems the rears suffer more with heat from what I gather.
Would ceramic coating inside be an idea for the next one?

That manifold looks different to the upgraded noble one I received last week?

Interesting to see if the Alonux ones could fail in the same way, as the way it is supported is different.

knowing the EGT we run Im not the least bit surprised the manifolds fail, stainless doesn't really stand a chance.... Im planning on unwrapping my inconel ones.

No, given the power Graham is running ceramic coating will not take the temperatures and will come off and go through the turbo.

Inconel should be fine as the rule of thumb seems to be not to wrap stainless but ok to wrap Inconel...

I recon your right that the inconel manifolds will cope with the wrap, I just want to remove some of the heat away from the exhaust and thus turbo.
