We are trying to come up with a new design diffuser tomorrow. Can any of you engineering guys give me some general advice? Would it be a problem if I removed the rear towing hook? And the "v" brace it is attached too? Your input would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Gary

Make one out of cardboard first

You can remove the tow bracket but best to leave a tow strap in case of emergency

Noble Martin has totally redesigned his defuser, otherwise everyone else just buys off the shelf types from Jetstream/tux/tonyvan/GC1. They are only a couple of hundred quid and look much better.

I'm trying to incorporate the mesh area above the diffuser, into the diffuser? Looking for something different. I've got a CAD guy and a metal fabricator foe 3 days to come up with something. If anyone has the time you are more than welcome to get involved smile

Just remove the bottom rail of the rear clip and curve it up

I cut the rear bar and V bar away from mine so I could fit a taller diffuser, my tow eye will moved to the side as part of the clam hinge assembly... will you be sorting the floor under the engine as well or will your diffuser be for show? wink

so you plan to make this from allow?... really interested in what you end up doing.

Ive removed all the metal in you pic with the exception of the 2 bars outside the exhaust tips... i had thought hard about making the entire rear as a single piece carbon part but couldn't think of an effective towing eye hence I left those bars. My intercooler is effectively hung which is why i don't need those 2 bars coming down from the intercooler.

hoping to pull the main part of the diffuser in next few days...

Yes all ali then powder coated so its hard wearing, the design will be similar to Noble martin's diffuser. we are removing the "V" frame and the horizontal bar at the back. we will then put in a couple of new braces to retain the strength and the curve will start where the exhaust box finishes. there will hopefully be some horizontal linear curves in the design too.

I will keep you posted with pics etc!

Thanks
Gary

Sounds interesting.

Are you making this as a one off, or are you planning on selling a few?
