DAB Car Aerial
Discussion
Dab is rubbish, have it in my other car and it washes in and out of reception constantly and the normal aerial is far less frustrating to listen to.
I have a sony stereo thats a direct replacement for the original that runs an Iphone or usb input and the remote still works which I will sell cheap (I fitted a double din unit.

Guys It must be the fitter that got it wrong
you did connect and stick the DAB antenna to the windscreen didn't you? if set up right DAB shouldn't just wash out of signal. I binned the old stereo in my sag and fitted one of Alpines finest DAB/Bluetooth units and it's perfectly clear. Never loose reception and it connects to my phone when I get in for calls/iPod. Even picks up your English stations nae problem.
will never go back to FM now.
My 'Antenna' is stickied onto the windscreen as per the instructions. A bit of fiddling around getting the wire behind the dash and to sneak up at the base of the windscreen though.

stuck to the screen and attached to the chassis exactly per instructions... top of range pioneer in a normal production car.I have mine stuck to the windscreen with a strip of clear vinyl. My reception is not great though, always falls away on motorway trips and just as you get used to the lower volume or turn it up it always catches signal and scares the s
t out of me.
EDIT: Mine is on the left hand (passenger) side vertically up the windscreen. You may get better reception along the top, but don't hold me to that!

Andy, I remember you said you had fitted a double din stereo, I'm guessing in the centre console, Was it standard depth? I think from a previous comment you made, there might be a piece of steel to cut away? also, does the unit go in central of the panel considering the angle of the dash panel.I have a sony stereo thats a direct replacement for the original that runs an Iphone or usb input and the remote still works which I will sell cheap (I fitted a double din unit.
Thanks Andy

Surprise, surprise; Halfords are supporting the move....I fitted a DAB last week and it is a great improvement over the stock stereo.
I've fitted the aerial to the glass but I've not fitted the bonding strip yet.
The reception in London is great but cuts out a bit as you get a bit more rural, to which point I just put my iPhone on.
It’s not perfect but I’m happy with it over what the car came with.
