I fitted my new DAB stereo today and it is much better, but the sound is still rubbish so I want to replace the door speakers too.

Are they 5" or 6"?

I'm thinking about going for component speakers and fitting a amp in time.
What speakers did you fit? Do you recommend them?

Is there any room under the seat to fit an amp?

I fitted a set of JL 160mm components and they're amazing! They look great and are a direct replacement without modifying the door. If your car is a dry weather car then remove the black foam/rubber behind the speaker, the door then acts like a bass box and completely transforms the sound. To be fair, even if you remove the black foam behind the standard speakers the sound is greatly improved.

I think mine as std had the speaker upgrade. Personally I think what you get out of the head unit would be good enough. In my door is a mid/base speaker and a separate tweeter. Sounds great

Thanks.
I found a good deal on some Pioneer's so I'll give them a go.

What about an amp?

Can you run cables down the side of the car by the door seals?

I put the amp on the back panel behind passenger seat, i then put a sub woofer above the amp on the rear panel,i fitted components and sep tweeters in the door,
Incorperating the original head unit as it has input for a sub, all the wires run down the cills, it sound incredible even with the standard head unit. But tbh i never switch it on, i always get to much pleasure listening to the car making its own music

You don't really need one, i have four JL co-Axial's,two in the door positions and two on the parcel shelf in pods, an Alpine amplified low profile under seat sub on the floor behind the drivers seat, all driven by a fairly good Alpine head unit with time alignment. the doors have a few one inch strips of dynamat stuck on to kill them.

It's a fairly small space so go for quality not quantity.

As I said in previous post. Don't see the need for an amp. Modern head units kick out a good bit of RMS power and most have a sub out if u feel u need one.

Personally I think the base I get from the door speakers is ample and that's coming from someone who used to have loads of amps and seperates back in the boy racer days. Lol

The house radiator and a warm armpit worked a treat.
