Hi,did someone know something about the turquoise nob in the pic?

I'm Thinking to make a new rear clam in carbon/kevlar,to save some weight, and will be good to add some aero mods like opening the rear mesh, and something to improve the air flow trough the engine bay

would be worthwile to know if the job done on that nob was useful

Anyway I'll go to test all the mods done in the wind tunnel

...did someone have suggestions?

thanks

Never seen that car or the facility - where/whose is it? Rear clam looks good but not sure about the massive side pods, wonder what they look like from the front?

It's Jetstream,I took the pic on they'r fb profile ...they have also a blue one with also the doors cutted (what I would also do)

Is seems to me better than what rossion done on the Q1

both front and rear clams seems wider than stock ones

that is a jetstream rear clam, it won't fit a standard noble as the side section is wider so you need their front clam and side sections as well... this cars intercooler is in the stock location but is fed air from the side pods.... its a very nice design but not available in carbon.

There is a rear clam section available from Paul curdy, its a fastback centre section that fit over the existing clam, it is wind tunnel tested and showed a significant improvement to air flowing into the intercooler... I don't have any links to pics of it I'm afraid.

Hoover in the US does a very similar design to Paul's, its designed for the centre section t be cut away and the carbon part to be installed in its place.

Ive made my own rear clam with fastback and have telemetry that shows it keeps inlet temps lower on track, no idea if its more aerodynamic as haven't put it in the wind tunnel, its full carbon and is 15kgs lighter than a stock noble clam smile

Hy Andy, the job you done on your nob is simply outstanding

I think that the fastback will be always more aerodynamic than the stock

I will go for it ,also if for the aesthetyc I woul like to taper(is the right term?) the rear part (like the lotus f.b.)
but the wind tunnel will say...

For the side pods I would like to improve the flow ...i think it's possible. I studied something on a rossion Q1 of a friend of mine, and rossion have a good flow
...that's the way ...but I would aesthetically something more like noble m600's style!! smilesmile

I will try...fortunately I've a friend engineer who probably can help me to study and test the mods on the wind tunnel of Milan's university

...what inlet temps are you running right now?

That light blue one at Jetstream looks awesome in the flesh. I keep trying to get them to swap it for mine every time I'm there but they're having none of it....

Not doubting the improved airflow, but think the standard Noble design looks far more attractive.

I personally love the diffuser that 04 UZU has. Suits his car so would definitely suit mine!

it is very similar to the m14 mule and Lees m400 race car

i like it !

(i have actually made some wider side scoops and will get round to fitting them when i find time)

my Dad has an Aerodynamic background and he worked out the extra drag would be almost negligable

...from what I've seen from most rear engined cars, I think that cutting the door (m600 style) and adding a wider and taller scoop will definitively reach a really good flow in (maybe also worth cutting the rear side of the front arch)

will be needed also opening the rear side of the clam as much as possible!!

Hi Ivoxxx

You should contact my brother who has made a brilliant clam insert. I am biased but looks better than anything pictured above and also has a rounded entry into the intercooler which I am told is important. Another thing is that it fits into the standard clam with only four bolt holes needed so if you ever wanted to convert back it is very easy. I have the insert at the moment and intend to spray it orange to match my car but it is not top priority at the moment. I guess Paul has the mould and others could be made to order.

Regards

Hi Mark,I'd be curious to see the clam!!

Do you think, guys,is possible to move a little higher the door's closing mechanism?

...will be needed to cut the lower portion of the doors to help the flow in

here is Paul Cundys version... it was the original inspiration for mine as I really liked it, I just took it a lot further.

I tried to get Paul Cundys version a while back, he contacted his supplier for me but there was no desire to make one in fibreglass and the Carbon fastback would have been 50% more than the original cost. Not worth it IMHO.

Im doing something a little different to the fast back version, sorry i meen a lot different.
A few years ago i looked at a design not so disimilar to Pauls version. With the various tests that i did, i still wasnt happy with the amount of airflow channeled into the intercooler. My charge cooler renders any airflow into the intercooler useless to a degree.niggling in the back of my mind was this desire to design something to channel air into the intercooler,so a few months ago i set about designing and making a few mock ups.before i did that i spent a day taking airflow measurements and data collecting from diff parts of the car with some startling results.
My first design just didnt look right to me looking side on,so i scrapped the idea after a week of making a full size model.
Over the last 6 weeks ive finally got the desired prototype finished. This is made out of carbon fibre, and im chuffed with the results, unfortunately my car is off the road (sorn) so either i wait till next year around march to do final back to back tests of my design, or i ask a good friend to test it on their car.
The design is proven in F1,and a major part of my prototype is off an F1 car, so im pretty confident that the airflow into the intercooler will be significant, and more than likely more than that of the fast back.
No intention to post pics as yet !!!!!!!
