I am getting new rear rubber fitted tomorrow and I wonder if it is worth keeping the old covers in case anyone would have any use for them as slicks? They are Pirelli P zeros, 265/35 zr 18s, just about road legal, but if they are going to be buffed down that not relevant. The thing is, is the compound any use as a slick?
If anyone would have a use for them I could bring them to Silverstone in May. Otherwise, I will just let them go for scrap or whatever.

Doesn't quite work like that with worn road tyres.

no problem, I just thought I'd check rather than have someone say "I could have done with those" after I'd let them go
