I had a spare few hours over Xmas so I thought I'd do a bit of work on my nob.

As a little history my car started as an absolute mint low miler when I bought it 5 years plus ago, it looked like this

I used it a lot and it looked like this

I the started modifying it and it looked like this

And a few months a go it looked like this

So after a little work over Xmas it now looks like this

And I now have this

So over the coming months I will have a full carbon tub and maybe a little more power as got a few mods planned for the motor :-)

That's some serious stuff!

My plan one day is to do a full body off restoration. I need some cash saved up first!

You can certainly see the advantage of the extra rear roll bar triangulation there. Might have a think about that.

the design and development is as much fun as using driving car. I enjoy it so buying a car would never be easier as Id need something else to occupy my mind.

so what exactly would you have bought? bear in mind my car can and is used to cruise europe with my other half, as well as track days, and has close to 700bhp per tonne.

To me I cant think of a single car sub 100k that comes close anyhow!

I know a few engineers who are more interested in building things than actually using them or looking at them, so that totally makes sense. It's always nice to have something unique.

I guess the standard comment is that we wish you had more time and resource to share some of your inventions/constructions!

Andy - you mention a Carbon tub? To me this means replacing the mid section completely with carbon fibre and doing away with some of the chassis but I take it you're not going to do anything this drastic?

Fair point Andy. And I know you love tinkering.....

Doesn't match what you said, and it's not exactly been around long but if I had £100k (and a bit more):

For me it a massive point of the car, improving/modding it, I love having a play in the garage.

As it happens it was Andy who convinced me to get a Noble.

I'm a bit limited on garaging at the moment but as soon as I can fix that, the tools are coming out, but maybe a bit less mental than Andy's.

I wish Andy had more time off I want him to get back to building his other car.

Thing is. Anyone can have a Porsche (if you have the cash) but how many people are there that have a full carbon Noble running 700bhp?

As I said, if I had the cash/parts to let me do this then I'd be all over it!

Once the noble is finished I will turn my attention to the other car... As I've always said, the noble is simply R&D for my more serious long term project :-)
