Is it easy/difficult for someone whose mechanical knowledge of the 2.5 Nob, i.e me, to test for fuel starvation? Mine seems to start coughing and spluttering around 2500 revs under load and I'm wondering whether there could be a partially blocked fuel line or something. If so, fuel is clearly getting through, but how would I know if it is enough? AND DON'T TELL ME THE ECU IS KNACKERED EITHER!!! lol

You can hear it under free revving conditions, in fact you can feel it through the seat too. But it's when it's under load that it almost brings the car to a halt.

Does it occur only when the car is hot? If so it might be the low pressure fuel hose collapsing (a reasonably common issue).

As Tux said, make sure it's the right size plugs. The previous owner of mine had this issue after a service which lead to a massive barney with SWLC because they fitted the wrong size plugs - although I think Noble told them it was the right size. Jetstream found the issue and fixed it. If you need anymore help on it I can go through the history and find the right size, although someone on here will prob be able to tell you from memory haha!

I pulled each lead off the coil pack one at a time and could hear a change in the tickover as I did so, but I suppose that doesn't mean the plug's are o.k? They been in about a year but I'm thinking I may have had a similar problem before now which was caused by the plugs. But why would plugs keep failing after only a year? It's not like the car gets used every week.

I only get 3 months out of a set of plugs !!! Running boost tends too work the plugs hard , not saying that's your problem but it's pretty easy to change them and whenever I have had a misfire in the past it's been plug related .

Simon, I'll check the plugs out. Do you actually have to replace yours or do they clean up with a bit of emery
cloth?
