How is this part called & what car does it come from ?

Hi all,


I tried to pass MOT today after car being SORN.

Test failed, due to a bit of play on the passenger's side suspension : a part on the lower wishbone has some play.

Howver, I do not know the exact name for the part, or what car it originally comes from.

See the red surrounded part in the picture below

Is it called a 'ball joint' ? What replacement part can I get ? How easy is it to install ? Does it need standard tools or heavy tools (like a press ?) ?

not sure what its from but Jetstream will have them in stock and they are not expensive, not sure if you'll need a press, maybe just a big hammer

Can be devils to get out, think they originated from a metro

The balljoint is available from Firstline, you will need to machine / grind down the bottom collar to fit though.

Thank you all for the info : looks like the Metro one has thread, the Opel one has a collar (so needs to be machined off).

Guess if it's from Metro it's pretty easy to (un)-install, in 2 nd case it will be a pita I guess

Indeed, I found somewhere that it's indeed from an Opel Manta, and it looks like this (machined & standard) :
