I took my wing mirrors off some time ago with the view to fitting electric mirrors, you have to remove a bolt or a clip from the new rover electric mirrors and fit them to the Noble base unit.
But a socket is too tight to get in the gap to refit them as there is a spring below the bolt.

Has anyone done this and come up with a solution?

The only think I can think if is if you machined a socket down?
But I don't have a lathe.
Has anyone got one I could borrow for a day or 2?
I'll pay postage of course.

I remember seeing a post somewhere with pictures of this very problem.

IIRC the result was either machine down a socket, or use a box spanner.

Hope that helps
