Discussion
over the winter i set about designing an air intake to channel air into the intercooler area. there have been several other designs including the fastback version.
i wanted to do something different, so after some extensive testing, and different designs, and conversations with an aerodynamisyst, i came up with what you see here. pictures arnt great, but it gives an idea as to what im up to.(photos were taken on coolchris car, but the complete part wasnt finished ) it is made from carbon and a major part of it is from a F1 car which i luckly managed to get hold of.

personally i think that look rediculous. could u not have it as a thinner lip going across the whole roof. life 2 inches above the roof then going down into the air intake
what you are meaning is like the ultima GTR has... it might have looked better but it then wouldn't work, think the point of Tonys is to actually be functional.be interesting to see how it ties into the rear clam around the intercooler, must admit I don't think I could live with the reduced visibility.

i was wondering if it would still work, would it not work as the air flow isnt flat to the roof and would physical miss the low long intake??be interesting to see how it ties into the rear clam around the intercooler, must admit I don't think I could live with the reduced visibility.
Been there tried that. I made a full size mock up of an intake very similar to the pigani zonda, but it just didn't look rite or function that we'll. I will post a pic up of it 2nite if I get chance.its very well to have these ideas/designs, which I've already thought of, but u try make it, not only to make it look half decent, but also to function as it should.this one does, so Im happy.

Bondy, I looked at the mr2 set up. How u going to duct to the inter cooler ???? It will look crap. My design needs No cutting of the rear clam.sp can be removed at any point.
There's a fair risk this will look crap too. Are we sure anyone actually goes fast enough to need this much ducting? I thought the fastest thing at the last trackday was Matt Walton's Clio Cup, and that hasn't even got an intercooler

i think you will find it has........ it may not have a flux capasitor though

No idea, ur the one mocking it up so I'll leave it to u. LolThere is no harm people coming up with ideas as you never know u might not have considered everything?
So back to ur current design:
Why not have carbon top joined to Perspex Middle section and then back to carbon? Bit of messing about but you will then still be able to see through the rear window.
Do u actually need this though with the charge cooler. As u have said and I concur, we don't have an issue with intake temps?

yes bondy i dont actually need this intake,as you well know the charge cooler does everything it needs to,even if some on here dispute it. i wanted to make something like this 3-4 years ago to see how much airflow i could get into the IC. WELL NOW THE COOLING TO THE INTERCOOLER IS MUCH BETTER without the charge cooler pump running,so i have double the cooling.....im just exploring the boundries. happy days!!!!!! Tony I'm expecting you to be testing this at the trackday on 12th May to get some proper airflow through it.
ive done hours of testing,so testing it on track isnt required to get "proper airflow" through it.im getting ample airfow though it thanks.i dont need to prove anything to anyone. remember im not selling this intake, so i have no desire to want/ have to prove my claims. wot i will say is, i have the results,i dont do tests with my finger in the wind,i have the appropriate test equipment etc.people that know me, know i dont make claims without being able to back it up.so no i wont be waisting my time going (on track)to prove a point. im merely just sharing wot ive made. love it or hate it,
may be permanently on the car at supercar sunday 4th may goodwood if i dont get sidetracked with more carbon bits.
