Following my recent post regarding the handbrake light coming on, which indicated that the brake fluid was low. I bought some DOT 5 and set about topping it up.....

the only thing is that the fluid seems to be a good 10mm above the Min mark on the reservoir. The trouble is the light is still coming on under braking.

Anyone have any ideas?

Play in the handbrake cable maybe - Do you have to lift it unusually high to engage it?

Also have you checked your pads?

Could also just be a faulty switch.

After a couple of trackdays I had worn half way through my pads. My brakes were terrible on the way home and the red brake light kept comming on (rather frightening in a 352bhp car). Presumably the pad wear resulted in critical lack of brake fluid. Topped the fluid up, then Vegantune put track pads on. Seems OK but need to test out on track again!
