clonking noise from rear of car

Hi Guys
When turning a corning I get a loud clonk from the rear of the car . There's no noise when going in a straight line
Any ideas ?

Check the hub nuts mate , make sure the are tight !!!!!

check the hub nuts haven't come loose, then check the CV/Universal joints in the driveshafts would be the first 2 things I'd try.

ok a stupid question with the wheel off how do you tighten the hub nuts

You can tell iam a bit think i fought you meant the studs i just checked the center hub nut and pasanger side was very loose i am going for a test drive to check it out, i see that there's a porsche part to replace them with so ill pick some new ones up anyway

test drive unsucessfull the banging noise sounds more like center of the car if you coast around a corner its ok but if your in gear it make a horrible noise it also made a noise when i reversed it back into the garage i think it sounds exspensive any ideas

My diff made this noise just before it self combusted. Was only when going round right hand bends.

Assume your on a 5 speed with standard open diff in which case that's where problem is, so gearbox out I'm afraid

You need to make sure the hub nuts are really tight, I remove the centre cap out the wheel and drop the car down so you can tighten the nut through centre of wheel.
When my diff went I had trouble diagnosing the problem. If you raise both rear wheels and spin one wheel the other wheel will spin in opposite direction, if your missing a tooth on the diff you will get to a point where one of the wheels will slip or jolt a little. So on mine I could feel a slight bit of play on the diff so I knew it had gone, you could do the same to help find the issue.

from memory when i spin one wheel the other wheel goes in the same direction would that make it a lsd or open diff

Have you checked it's not the exhaust hitting the chassis, have a look under the rear drivers side of the engine

Ok i will check that as well but it now sounds a bit like a crunching noise like something is trying to break but its fine in a straight line
