Rear lights....
Discussion
Had to take off both rear light units to check for blown bulbs (found none blown just heavy corrosion on every bulb and light unit contact) - this may affect all M12s by now so you might like to check yours before winter sets in.
TIP: tape up the light unit to the body on the outside before you start work as when you undo the nuts the unit has nothing holding it in, apart from the wiring, and may get damaged on the ground!
A couple of questions:
1. Is the rear foglamp bulb on one or both sides (only my offside comes on, which may be correct)?
2. Has anyone noticed that their inner driving light lens's look different one side to the other - with the lights on (there are two "driving" bulbs per side and they are diffent bulb types)?
Thanks

People, I'm still waiting for a response on these questions, thanks :-)

All, have inspected both light units now and there's a fog light bulb on both sides (one element of a combo bulb)!
As mentioned earlier, I've found high levels of corrosion on all bulbs and terminals causing connection issues - you might like to check yours while you can as you won't be able to by the roadside in the snow! :-)
Merry Crimbo!

FYI the driver-side rear indicator stopped working last weekend - symptom is shown up by the green indicator light on the dash flashing at twice the normal rate. I checked the bulbs and found corrosion under the indicator bulb.
I just twiddled the bulb to get it working and then reassembed and resealed the unit with black Loctite sealant. At the time I didn't have the tools (or time) for cleaning the contact so I expect to be repeating the job in the future ... or getting the dealer to do the job if it's more convenient.
Later on the same day the tube feeding the windscreen washer became disconnected - simple fix to plug it back into the quick fit connector this time giving it a yank to make sure it's in place (hint to factory).
Maybe add "check your washer tubes" to the winter checklist as well!
