I hope to be able to drive back for this, and combine it with a service while in Blighty. Who else will be there?

Martin.

Just had a thought on this one... Given that the 20th March is a Sunday, any of you fancy a 'get together' on the Saturday night at a hotel somewhere near the circuit? Could be a chance to meet and have a few pints in the process.

Let me know if you're up for it and I'll look into getting a decent price on a group booking at a local tavern.

Cheers,
Dominic

I'll be up for it depending on costs of track day. I'm spoilt on trackday prices thanks to SELOC, so a tad resistant to paying more than necessary. Especially as I get hammered another 200 quid a time for track insurance.

Dan, haven't you tried Pert Insurance. They've given me an excellent quote on the M400 and cover trackdays for just £124 extra per day. That isn't as good as the current one I have with GroupAMA (that's £50 per day) but they don't seem to be renewing that particular policy.

Richard there (0870 2402972) seems a good person.

Thanks for the info Justin, unfortunately I'm on a company policy that is so much cheaper than any open market quote I could get, that its still cheaper to pay the 200 quid a time (although thats only about 13k of cover not the full car). It just brings home the cost of trackdays a tad when the cost is per event

I'm up for the Sunday in March too.

Staying overnight would be a good idea for me as it's a wee bit too far to travel from Lytham St Annes and back in one day.

Hopefully see a good few of you there.

How much cheaper? £200, £500?

Depends. It seems with Peart you get cover for the whole value of the car (useful if it was written off into some Armco....) but with a 6k excess, so it's a bit of swings and roundabouts me thinks.

How many trackdays do you need to do before you "break even"?

Well right now insurance is 'free', going by quotes I got, I'd be paying >2k given my location/age/etc. So a lot of track days!

Excellent news. Been hoping this would have happened before. Now will it be the 3R or the M10. Hmmm.

For all interested in staying the Saturday night...

I've spoken with the Hotel Elizabeth Rockingham and they only have a handful of rooms left for Saturday 19th March due to some sort of function on over the weekend. They're not very keen to offer a special rate but if you can mail be before the end of tomorrow letting me know if you're interested I can use the old buying power trick. Mail me at: dominic.cross@axxessit.no

Cheers,
Dom.
