Although I think I've made mind up that I'll get a 3 or 3R, I've noticed a 2.5 thats a bit cheaper than usual(although not much) that hasn't got air-con. Will it get very hot? affect re-sale? can it be retro fitted and how effective is it?

Yes. Moving slow (not stopped) is worst as the rad heat pushes into the cabin a bit.

A little probably.

Anything could be done given £££ obviously. I dread to think of the cost....

Seems to vary a bit. Mine's ok. Others are like the arctic wind.

I couldn't live without it in the Noble.

In winter its no such much of a problem but in the summer its essential...the cabin gets very hot after a long stint. Id personally look for one with air con allready fitted and save yourself alot of agro.....good luck.

I hate air con and much prefer to have a window open but in the Noble the heat builds so much you feel sick even with the window open so you just have to have it.Even in spring and somtimes in winter if the suns out its a must.

Yep, a/c is an essential option and suggest you don't go the retro-fit route (even if the motor your eyeing-up is at a keen price) - walk away!

Just to add that I'm a great lover of open windows and noisy engines (!), but on the noble its a bit tricky in hot weather as all the hot air from the front radiator washes into the cabin through the windows if you open them. Its bearable in the depths of winter, but in the summer, not so good =/

Also remember A/C will keep your windows free from misting up when it's raining.Incidently if you open your side windows whilst on the move you will draw into the cabin hot air from the engine bay.Your gear stick and handbrake wil get very hot first and the whole cabin will warm up.According to Lee they are aware of this but have given up trying to cure it. He says keep your windows closed and swith your A/C on.

Well thats made my mind up! The only theory I had with retro fitting the air-con was if it was generally Ford components and the basics were already in place it wouldn't be too much of a nightmare. Many thanks to all of you for your opinions and info.

I've had mine stop working after heavy track use and you never ever ever want to be without it on a hot day. You start to feel sick very very quickly.

I had the same thought, track days with sweat dripping from your brow into your eyes and generally feeling very hot and sweaty isnt good, i opted for the air con and very pleased i did.
