Similer to M14 or no?
Discussion
Not sure I'd agree. It has much tighter creases and sharper styling imho. Its also got a made up (tm) engine that was gonna have 1000bhp or something ridiculous IIRC?
Bit like the VW made up car (tm) that was going to beat the elise by weighing less, costing less, and having more power.
Who do these manufacturers think they are fooling?

I think you have a point Martin...take out the bling and yep, there are definitely similar design cues...particularly at the rear...has Tea boy been doing some moonlighting or is the fact that the M14 was the star car at the British motor show enough for it to have imprinted its image on car designers across the pond.

BLURGH! American bling, but then we know you like bling ![]()
But it is a bit like a M14. After all, it has 4 wheels.......![]()

Now Justin, don't be so quick to take the piss out of us yanks ! Nothing wrong with a little design style, even if not to everyones tastes ...........

Reminds me more of the Bugatti Veyron. Funny thing is that the Chrysler will probably go into production before the Veyron despite it's recent announcement.
They are putting that into production? Now I *know* the yanks have no taste....

Again, don't be such a tea toddler. Lee is not the only one out there trying to make headway ....

If that's the best they can do then they aren't.
You should accept that personal taste is exactly that. I happen to think the new AMV8 is a pastiche and has been completly been ruined with the remodelling of the front to differentiate it from the 7&9.
The M14 really works for me, that thing above doesn't. Why. Well, lets start with the droopy tail swage line - what's that all about. Then there is those lights - err - very American, and as subtle as a brick in your face.
Then the side windows? Hmm - why so small - is this a driver's car or a fashion statement? Finally, I'd love to see someone reverse it.

Well I think it is great that an American car company has the balls to entertain a car of this nature and not do another freaking retro this or that. I think it is an awesome looking car - like the M14, Bugatti, McLaren F1, Farboud, Aston Martin, etc. What the hell do you want another Ford Taurus? As an American I have a Ducati, a Ferrari and my favorite a beautfiully restored Triumph TR6 (if I do say so myself). The new Corvette stole heavily from the Ferrari, but it is a step in the right direction, though the ass is still the size of a Wal-Mart mama. Since you won't let us import the beautiful M14 into the States what the heck are we suppose to do in the meantime!!
If I hear "American Bling" or "America this" or "America that" again...I am going to lose it! Why do you Brits(not all of you...you know who you are) have such a problem with all things "American". I for one am an American and damn proud of it too. I also am proud of my ancestrial background of: British(Mother) and German(Father).
Don't get me wrong...I love to hear other peoples opinion of things, but when you start out with saying things like "too American bling for me" and then say "the windows are too small" or "the rear is too big" I am already thinking you just don't like the damn thing because it is "Made in America"!
I don't give a s*** if the thing is made in South Africa, Mexico, Afghanistan, or even Iraq. If it looks good to me and performs like a proper sports car then i'll have one...Plain as that!

Not that I would buy the Chrysler...it is different looking, I agree. Nor would I buy the M14, because it doesn't look any better than the M400 and it cost quite a bit more...and for what a trunk or two and a plush interior...thanks, but no thanks.
Mr. Noble: keep making cars like the M400, the world already has enough like the M14! Please don't lose sight of your place in the market like our friends over at TVR did years ago. I promise I won't hold it against you for being British.

I don't think we are being anti-American.
But there is a school of thought ( quite strong here ) that thinks American cars ( at least the ones they build now ) simply don't export well to the UK.
With such a vast home market, US car makers are quite lazy - churning out endless dross which they know they can sell at home. Why bother making cars to suit European tastes?
American cars will remain only marginally popular in Europe unless they change considerably. I don't personally think they should change ( why bother ), but equally I do not expect Europeans to like American cars in numbers.
For what its worth - I think its damn ugly too.
And yes, it is bling. Too fussy and over-the -top. But thats not anti-American, its just anti-ugly cars.

I realize the current world wide auto market, but that is not what I was getting at. Please reread my post. And I do agree with you in saying that American cars are drab! Our best of the best can perform well but alas still look very bad.
The entire auto business is changing like the banking industry did years ago...it is just taking them longer. They are all either buying other manufacturers, being bought by other manufacturers or merging to stay alive against the monsters.
Really anymore you can't really say a car is "American", "British", "German", or "Italian" with a few as the exception. Most are being built or manufactured internationally. So how can you put a "made in" label on any of them.
Really though, this arguement is not worth the Kb we are using because if you pick up your car or truck, regardless of the Brand, Make, or Model I am sure you will all find a big fat "MADE IN CHINA" on it, or you soon will. After all everything is made in China

To quote a far too used saying...
"Some of my best friends are American"
However, let's just look at a few things...
The "genus" 'American cars' just don't translate well into EU markets. It's not just the left-hand-drive thing, because 3/4rs of the EU market is left-hand-drive anyway, it's just that what sells well in the US market rarely works well over here.
If you just look and compare the number of LHD yank cars compared to LHD EU cars on British roads it's a very very small fraction.
Why? Well, I'd put it down to "two cultures separated by a common language". For those that saw it, there were two good TV programmes on yesterday in the UK. One was called "What would Jesus drive" and compared the US SUV market with being "love thy neighbour". The second was about the US attempt to regain the world speed record during the 1950's and 1960's.
Both programmes showed the differing views of the markets.
US cars are stupidly cheap, and with the dollar having been in the 1.4:1 to 3:1 range over the last 20 years, they are even more so when you import them into the UK. So, why don't we buy them.
RHD version of US cars just don't sell, despite what they try marketing wise. Compare the Jeep Cherokee to the BMW X5, the X5 outsells them 50:1!
"World cars" such as the Ford Escort MK3, the Ford Scorpio etc. just don't work to the UK taste.
US cars are set up "too soft". I was shocked when I had a Sebring 5L V8 car that it squeeled it's tyres at 20mph+. Lovely engine, horrible horrible suspension (feel free to tell me that it's considered horrible in the US as well, but it was a "Cat E" car at the hire shop.
I could go on and on.
Now, flip it the other way...
Name the EU cars that have made it big time over in the US. To flip the argument on it's head, I get annoyed when so many US peeps say "a 1.8l engine, in a toy car, what's that all about". I am of course talking about the Lotus Elise, a car that the US never really "got", and still doesn't. Sure it's selling the odd 100 here and there, but as the programme last night reminded me, with 100 million cars in the US, and with a large number of 6 car+ families in the US, its a small niche market in a mass of SUVs.
WHat else don't I like? Well, I hate mussels and Pugots (in the main) so presumably I'm anti-french, I can't stand fish tapas or dead raw cow, so I'm anti Spanish and so on and so on.
So - who's at fault. Americans thinking that "because we like it, everyone else that doesn't must be anti us", or "us, because we don't like what you like". To be honest, if you have a problem with what's written you should probably just get over the fact that the world is different and just accept it - you'll have a easier life...
[But then, hey, I've been told I'm mad for not liking what the Aston Martin AMV8 has turned into, so what the heck do I know.....]

Until companies realise that to design to a market you need someone from that market to design it, we'll keep on getting the dross that we get throughout out lives, not just in cars.

Then don't say you don't like something because it is American or any other. Just say you don't like the damn thing because it is so f****** ugly and here is why!
This whole thing could go on forever, and frankly that is not what I am after. I simply would like to know WHY without the WHO!
WHO me...no not me but YOU,,,no no no not YOU but YOU...WHO...YOU....YOU?...yes YOU...YOU WHO?...No thanks I'm not thirsty!
Lets not take this in to the British food vs. American food realm, because we all know they both suck!;
