I'm expecting delivery of my M400 in the third week of March and having had limited success with my Sony Mini DV video camera during the past years on the way to Le Mans i wonder what sort of cameras anyone could reccomend?

Last year was my best since i managed to get the camera mounted on the roll cage of my Exige, but after 30 mins i found out that the Sony camera goes on to power save so my plans to use the remote control went out of the window! This lead to an awful lot of arm stretching in harnesses, never that clever when you've got your foot in!!

Any advice on camera's and mounting in Nobles would be greatly appreciated.

Get a remote cable, or doesn't that counter the sleep mode?

It wont counter it according to Sony, nor is it a configurable option. I even tried an in car charger but it still goes to sleep after 30 mins of inactivity.

I did search through the Nobele forum for camera info and whilst their is alot on mounting the things and wide angle lenses I couldn't find any specific makes and models that people reccomend.

The SC2 looks very good but its not the mount i'm ineterested in, what i'm looking for is a camera that can be controlled remote and that doesn't go to sleep if you leave it for 30 mins, any suggestions?

Surely if it's recording it will not be going to sleep? Or are you leaving it on and then just recording little snippets?
I did a little research into the programing techniques - You can get a diagnostic remote which plugs into the remote sockect of the camera and does all sorts of things that you normally would not be able to do with the camera at all, using control codes. I have a Sony DCRIP-220 (Micro MV as well). I can't remember were I found this info (somewhere through google) but suffice to say I did not find the info directly related to my camera. The reason I was searching for it was that I wanted more control of the camera through a waterproof case.

I post if I find anything of any use.

Last year I planned to leave the camera running generally and then stop it recording when we hit towns etc on the way to Le Mans. The reason I was doing this was I couldn't reach it in my Exige once I had done the harnesses up so I used the remote control to start stop. It would have been a great plan if it hadn't gone to sleep when left on standby for 30 mins. I was a bit disappointed that it did this given that it was permanently powered by the car and you couldn't extend the duration or turn it off. Like I said I asked Sony and they said "tough, it can't be changed" so I’m up for buying a new camera (with wide angle lens) so I wondered if anyone could recommend something that doesn't go to sleep?

The Sony config stuff sounds interesting, if you can find anything please let me know and in the mean time i'll have a nose around google.

My PC110E doesn't go to sleep when powered off the mains adaptor AFAIK.

Apart from that, no idea - sorry!
