Had a little trip to Gibralter today and had it flat out in 6th on the way back. I was a bit disappointed with an indicated 168(ish) @6.6k(ish) rpm. My question is 'will it go faster in 5th?, or will I have to get an M400?' (I saw a lovely colour on a Renault Megane today...)

Nope. 6th is best. I think the red line is at 149mph in 5th. Now if you lived in a colder country you'd probably get a bit more out of it.....allegedly..
3R's top speed is limited by gearing I think. @ 170ish you're passed the peak power of the engine, and I've been told the power drops off quite rapidly from then on.

Remember the speedo may account for a bit of a loss or gain!
The speedo may well account for gain, but NEVER loss!
The speedo can read up to 10% higher than your real speed, but not even 0.1% less than your real speed.
E.g. Your speedo can read 170mph, but you could only be doing 153mph and your speedo will be within legal limits. However, if your speedo reads 170mph and your real speed is 171mph then your speedo is illegal.
Just a bit of random info for you.
...forgot to add that the Noble is aerodynamically limited - that is to say that the engine will stop accelerating due to the 'height' of the 6th gear ratio ratio versus the air the car is travelling against.
This is obvious because 6th gear does 26.5mph per 1000rpm. This means that the engine will be doing around 6400rpm in 6th gear when 170mph is reached.
