I could have posted this on the end of the current M400 thread - as someone started talking about the M14 but thought it would attract plenty of chat on its own...

In saw the brief but impressive write-up on the "baby" new Aston in the ST today and thought it (sounded like) it would represent a threat to the M14 (plus of course, the 911, new Jag, etc., etc.).

OK, it's slightly slower in acceleration than the M14 will be but, if I had 75K bananas spare for a new car later this year I'd be giving it a serious tyre-kicking - it looks superb (as does the M14!)! :-)

Why not just be done with it and buy a 911 then? If people wanted 911 lookalikes they would have already bought one.

Personally I think they've ruined the AMV8 from the front and rear 3/4s given those pictures today.

As for the performance I think they've misjudged how much people will want for £75k base (read £85k by the time you've added the options). Also, 3000 a year, that's not exclusivity, that's downright common. Not really what I expect if I cough up £80k+ for something that isn't a 911.

As I said before, they've ruined it for me from concept to final version, I wonder if I'll be alone... I certainly won't be buying one.

Have you ordered an M14 by any chance?

I quite like the new astons. My only beef is that all the models look the same. They've found a style they know looks good but 3 models split by 90k is labouring the point!

Yes, and I also ordered an AMV8 before the M14, and have since cancelled it. If you do a search you'll find the reasons why, not least the dealer I was "allocated" as a non AM owner that tried to shaft me for nearly £5k over what "privileged" AM customers needed to put down for a deposit....

Not wishing to doomonger, but have you seen the price of Gallardo's lately, £60k will buy you a 3000 mile 6 month old left hooker - hardly the success it was deemed to be at the start.

If the figures given in the Sunday Times are anything to go buy, I'll happily stick with my M14, waving "bye bye" to any AMV8 owner that I happen to see...

Money at this level is not the point, exclusivity and the desire to not buy a 911C4 is.

Hi Rob - It got a fantastic review in March EVO that just arrived on my doormat.

I think it looks stunning, and according to the reviewer the dynamics are just as good. Certainly the first Aston i would consider....although as Joust points out Gallardo's are becoming a 2nd hand steal! A £75K Gallardo makes an interesting alternative to a 996 turbo......

The M14 certainly has its work cut out in a very competitive sector of the market. Wonder what sort of warranty you get on an M14

Yep a gallardo would suit me perfectly

Not much beats the sense of occasion or engine note of a lambo. Not sure prices are quite at 60k levels yet though, but RHD cars are certainly in line for a major adjustment once a few speculators lose their bottle. There is no real justification for asking prices of 105k with LHD cars at 70ish.

This weeks "deals" in Autocar says that they found an 04 11km LHD Gallardo at importers Micronet for £67,500. With a bit of haggling you'd get that down to the low 60's, so it seems as if they are there already.

If that's an 04 plater, the 53/03's are going to be worth less....

My guess is that the car isn't taxed yet as it seems just a bit too cheap, especially since it looks to have been bought at a Euro dealer, so 2 margins involved. You could be right thogh.

Was lucky enough to go out in a Gallardo recently. Awesome. You can tell it's an audi tho (in good ways) interior is just like an S8 or an RS6, soild as rock. Engine pulls like a train, wouldn't say the exhaust note was an all time classic soundtrack though. If I had £70 to spend at the mo. it would go on a Gallardo, no question!

Yep around 100, but there is a field of thought suggesting those prices aren't sustainable and that a 10k margin over LHD is more reasonable...

Its too pretty to be used like that!

God wouldn't it be good for a Brit car (ok company not owned but you know what I mean) to shove it to the 911 uber wagon nazi staff car manufacturer!
