Hi, please don't flame me as I know Noble isn't about drag racing but...

Have any figures been published for the M400 in raw acceleration terms beyond 100mph? You know the kind of Top Gear magazine 0-150mph with all the increments, standing quarter, in gear acceleration etc... I'm curious to know at what point the downforce starts to take affect on acceleration. I'm taking a demo M400 out in a few weeks and hope to attend the 20 March day at Rockingham. I may well join the fold around July/August. My only concern, and once again I know the Noble has many other strengths, is at what point drag stops the fun and games in a straight line. (take Hangar Straight or the long straight at Bedford for example!)

Long staight at Bedford you can hit 140+ without too much difficulty in an M400........

That was enough to keep up with a Radical SR3 with the 1500 engine in it.....

And it was an SR4 (my mates) []

I was hitting just under 140 ( 138 indicated) at bedford in a GTO3, 140+ is easily on the cards with a better driver, I'd hope the M400 would pull 150 there, an F40 was hitting 160 until it caught fire

That's not bad then. My Cerb gets 155 odd. Without downforce to slow it down though that's hardly surprising! How much of that speed do you have to get rid of to push through South 1&2 at the end of the straight? I'm quite sure the M400 will destroy the Cerb over the course of a lap The Cerb does very well for what it is but without any push onto the track and the benefit of a mid engine layout there's only so far it can go. I'm tempted by the challenge of learning something new.

I suppose Rockingham will be the decider. Any of you guys going to be there?

Thanks for your input so far guys.

I'm still 50/50 on Rockingham as I'm supposed to be at Bedford on the 25th as well.

Who's running that day? Is it an open event? Might be nice to come along and see how these Noble's go. I've not been on the track near a well driven Noble since I got the hang of the Cerb!

Thats the noble day at rockingham. You have to have one to drive on track, although there might be demo laps available for prospective purchasers? dunno theres a thread about it on here.

Well driven? you might want to look elsewhere

Easytrack. Still undecided whether to do rockingham, bedford or stretch to both... It's the insurance that is a nightmare

DanH - I'd be at Rockingham with Giles Cooper. To good an opportunity to miss really!

m12_nathan - my insurance doesn't cover me for Easytrack as they're not an ATDO member apparently.

Actually, on the subject of insurance, does anyone underwrite track day cover as part of a regular comprehensive policy? I have it with the TVR which is a very nice touch.

Competition Car Insurance - www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk

4 track day events were included in the cover on my policy and they were happy to include the Noble Owners Day as one of these. However note the 10% excess

Is Competition Car Insurance the only option for track day cover for you guys?! I approached them to cover the Cerb a while back and they wanted something like £400 with an £8K excess or something crazy like that. Lukily I get track day cover with the Cerb standard policy for something like £200 per year with a £1K excess.

www.trackdays.co.uk

Try the above. I tried a month ago and just got an email through saying their system had a problem back then and they lost all my details /sigh. CBA to resubmit at the moment!

Thanks - just had a word with CCI and they have come up with a reasonable solution. Not quite as nice as the TVR cover but close enough.

Mind saying what kind of price, and for what level of cover? I used to use CCI for one off cover on my Elise for trackdays. Was pretty expensive.

Things seem to have moved on since then. Give them a call and ask to speak to Steve. Or if you prefer mail me via my profile and get back to you with the details tonight.

SR3/SR4, whatever......

Remember that I was still at 1500 miles and so was short shifting around 6000rpm during that day to provide some mechanical sympathy. I think Scott was in the 150 area with his, but then his is rather well "run in" now.
