Some opinions please...

I have decided to get rid of my good old, trusty porker. I am in a quandry over which car to go for.

I personally love The Tuscan S, in terms of style and presence (despite the Speed6 rep) - its unique. I am looking at an '03 car and will make sure of 2 things - its had the rebuild if it's early '03 etc and it has a warranty.

The Noble on the other hand doesn't have quite the same unique styling and feel. Its looks are more track based, with pure style giving way to technical performance. However in terms of driveability (and reliability), I'm lead to believe its a different beast entirely. Lee Noble (and his cars) reputation preceeds him.

Anyone had the pleasure of owning (or even just driven) both of these cars?
Your opions are welcomed...

Mr Noble

I tested a Tuscan S and a Noble 3r.

Cheak my profile to see which I went for.

Absolutly no question at all.

Never look back, this car is simple increadably in every way.

Road presence wipes the floor with a Tuscan in my opinion. I have seen nothing this side of a Diablo that gets more looks and respect.

I think its beautiful from every angle now, its a grower!!

Depends if you want a true drivers car or not!!

Done the Tuscan thing and the difference in handling is akin to a speedboat and an oil tanker,Noble obviously being the speed boat!!!

its really a question of style vs substance

I owned a Tuscan...loved it, not much went wrong with it, looked gorgeous, (wife still wants another one)...and for basic cruising with the roof down you can't beat it.

the noble on the other hand is just a much better drivers car...if you like a bit of enthusiastic driving, with some more assured reliability and can sacrifice a little on the looks stakes (I think it is almost as stunning, but it's definitely more macho/track styled)...then you'll never look back

oh...and you'll never find quite as happy and friendly a family as the nobility on this forum

whichever way you go...happy motoring

Tuscan - get a nasty build one and you will never be happy. They look great agreed. But as I've always said "they only look as good as the loan car you get provided with"!

Noble - awesome in every sense. The looks do grow on you and you still get the admiration of other cars. In fact for presence I feel that road users respect you more. You will enjoy it more because you will have it in your possesion more!

Dont mean to hijack an interesting thread but dont you think comparing a tuscan mk1 ( i presume) againt a noble is not a fair comparison as the tuscan mk1 is a bit of a tank slapper. A fairer comparison would be the T350 or sagaris...

The tuscan is more of a GT than a track car.

We aren't comparing TVR vs Noble though, just the two cars the chap mentioned!

I've driven both but own neither, and have no allegiance one way or another.

Tuscan is very good looking and with stunning presence on the road. Lots of performance, and a nice noise.

Noble is less interesting in the styling stakes ( especially inside, where it is a bit low rent and unimaginative compared to TVR ). But the Noble fights back with truly sublime handling and a wonderful drive.

The Tuscan is a flawed gem IMO. It is beautiful but, frankly, the handling is pretty poor.

Noble is perhaps not as well styled but handling is simply wonderful.

You may or may not be the kind of owner for whom the performance at the extremes of handling matters or not.

If handling really matters, get the Noble.

If styling and funkiness matters ( especially inside ) get the TVR.

IMO

At this stage I feel I should qualify my original question...

The original subject was not to compare the two cars blow for blow on a track (the result of that is unanimous).

It was simply to help me in deciding which car to buy and own. I love both cars for different reasons (bling vs drivability) and want some differing opinions.

Please keep it coming...

Thanks Topstuff - Its a tricky one!!!

I love the Tuscan S, that was my first choice originally. But I'm worried all it will give me is lowspeed (or straight line) enjoyment. I don't want to be s**t scared of chucking it through some bends and a bit of general hooning.

Coupled with this is the dark cloud of TVR's reliability.....

I guess if I could fall in love with the Noble's looks a little more, I'd go for that.

Well if it was me I'd probably not get either.

I'd go for a Porker 993 Turbo with a fruitier pipe, or an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Much safer places for the money, and lots of character too.

Maybe even a Morgan Aero 8 with side exhausts, which sounds like a Supermarine Spitfire !

If I was going to do any track days, or drive at all keenly, then it would be the Noble however. I would not trust the Tuscan at 8/10ths and beyond, while the Noble is really sorted.

Another option, from left field, is the new Marcos TSO.

Mid £40's brand new. Big V8 American engine, and a prodrive sorted chassis. That will be a VERY good car.

I'm sure Joust can offer an opinion on the marcos front...think the aston martin is a little out of the league of this comparison (too expensive and not fast enough, but beautiful sure!)...if you want to save money by not worrying about depreciation then go for an earlier noble - prices are firming!

if styling is an issue check out the noble sans spoiler...there have been a few example photoshoots on this forum...sort of gets rid of the boy racer/track styling in one fell swoop!...doesn't impact the handling either (so I'm told!).

Andy, stick with the idea of the Tuscan or Noble. At least you will still have an exclusive car. If you want to go with the sheep go German

Even if you were to compare the Tuscan II or the Sagaris verus the Noble - In my opinion the Noble still wins. Ok so it doesn't have a boot but I've never ever had any problems with that.

Why not get the Noble and get a cheap little run around to handle the big shopping days !

Get a TVR and it's curtains for your happiness - trust me. The Noble will keep you smiling.

My 2p

Marcos TSO - lovely car, great sound, convertible, chassis by Prodrive so it's going to be fab! I'm debating at the mo if I'll chop in the TS500 for one (although I do *love* the TS500)
M12 - biased
M400 - biased
Tuscan - You either love or hate the styling and interior. Me, I hate it, other's love it. Not convinced about the engine technology, and not totally convinced about build quality having seen the latest Saggyarse.

Personally, I'd pretty much ignore what's said on here (we are all biased someway ), get off my (fat?) arse and go and drive the things for *at least one hour*. Once I'd done that, I'd leave it a week, go back, drive them again, and then make my decision.

Would you marry someone based on other people's opinion of them? If not, don't treat a car purchase like that!

I can see where you were going with that, but that doesn't work in all cases, for instance, if five of you told me that VBH was drop dead gorgeous and that I should..you know, I'd be there like a rat up a drainpipe!

Sod the test drive!!!

VBH.What's not to like!!

1. She's a woman.
2. She has a sexy voice from 40 fags a day.
3. She loves cars.
4. She loves bikes.
5. She can drive a car on a track quicker than a lot of men.
6. She's not bad looking.

Notice where looks came in that list?? A Psychiatrist would probably have a field day with that.
