How was reliability?
Discussion
It is good to see you all had a good time. That picture of all the cars is fantastic.
Overall was there any mechanical failure of note? I am not wondering about tire failure or brakes wearing out. These are maintenance issues. I am also not concerned with lack of maintenance issues or other driver errors. If there was a reoccuring problem I think a day like this would have brought it to light. I would expect the fair amount of little sensors acting up and wrecking days as that is unavoidable. So what was the deal?

Only thing I saw was poor old Stuart's clutch letting go on his first lap (but then the car has been in the hands of me and Lee so what did he expect) which of course is just bad luck.
It seems something broke on one other car, but not sure what. To be honest, I think everyone was suprised at how well cars stood up. I've seen worse broken tallies on almost every other track day I've been on.
There were a few other problems, but mine and everyone else's seemed to be easily sorted out by the excellent factory support. My problems turned out to be a loose wheel nut (
), and as already mentioned, there were a few brake things sorted out.
Given there was perhaps 40 Noble's being 'spanked like the owner's were possessed' I was, perhaps, expecting a few more.
If ever there was a day to put reliability worries about Nobles to bed, it surely was yesterday.

Reliability was very very good from where I was standing. Some owners might have had the odd bit of brake fade going on at some point throughout the day and I think one car ended the day with a failed clutch but thats about it.
The Noble chaps were onsite to fix any minor problems and I think pretty much everyone got a good hour of tracktime in, maybe more - IMHO that makes for very impressive reliability, especialy when you consider 99% of them drove home afterwards.

There was an M400 who's engine was doing the best example of 'A bag of bolts being shaken' I've heard. Martin couldn't open his drivers door after a bit. Didn't see anything else myself which I'd say was really impressive.
So nothing of any consequense other than maybe one engine? I would call that spectacular. Brakes get hot and wear, clutchs glaze or fail, bulbs stop working. No inherent problems! That is on par with what I have seen at 100+ Porsche events and they are supposed to be the race reliability standard.
Most excellent factory service - my exhaust box bracket cracked (this is a know weak-point) and they welded it then and there :-)
Well done to Bob and the team!
I'd say that Noble has ironed out most (if not all) of the issues that were being experienced a year ago and that the anmount of "breakage" at this event proves the point conclusively.

Is this a sign the British car industry is bouncing back?
In fact a lot of the activity in the Noble garage was "acccumulated" well before the event, people made good use of the offer of factory attention and I saw several cars being "fixed" for what were minor irritations that had developed weeks before hand.
There were close on 10% of all the Nobles built at Rockingham and many were being driven hard and only 2 were trailored away. That says it all.
