Gear Knob removal ?
Discussion
Hi there, the gear lever gater is lockwired to the gear knob before the whole top panel is fitted. The nuts for the panel are on the inside of the tunnel and are tricky to get back on if u are unfamiliar with it.
I would consider polishing it in situ unless u have access to a ramp and have arms like Mr. Tickle.

All I had to do on mine was pull the leather boot down past the lock nut, lossen the lock nut and then unscrew the shift knob. The shift boot is a snug fit, but it does slide down so you can get to the lock nut. There was no need to go under the car on mine (US#61)
