I know I am grinning, but means I can now get stainless steel.

I am looking for advice please.

Paul Cundy?

Justin?

Martin?

Dan?

And anyone else who may wish to contribute.

Plans Motorsport, Vegantune or a one off are your options. I saw the Vegantune one at Rocky and it looked fine. Pauls car sounded fruity without being a destroyer of good neighbours, and the fireworks, both visual and aural, were fantastic. I have no experience of the Plans option but they seem to have a good reputation. A one-off is an expensive gamble...I'd want to see what I was paying for before I parted with and cash.
Sticking point:- isn't the Vegantune for a 2.5?
Hope this helps.

Martin.

To be honest, wherever you go, you may end up having the first (or second!) exhaust. Which makes it a bit of a gamble all round. You may waggle a discount being first, but it means you'll be the one dealing with the pain of taking it back for mods if its too loud for track etc, and if it just sounds nasty on the motorway you are a bit stuffed.

Which is why I wouldn't want to be first on an exhaust

Given you need one, then I'd probably choose on proximity to home!

Paul C has the Plans one.

Richard @ Vegantune have one designed for the 2.5 and 3.0

Or, you could just get a new factory one.

Those are your three choices. As to what's best - it depends. If you want fire - Plans. If you want lightweight, probably Richard's.

Is there a picture of Richard's? What makes it lightweight?

Yes hang on there J, lightweight? I've not measured it but you surely can't get much lighter than the Plans one - there's next to nothing in it (If I knew how to do a smiley I'd add a big grin one)

colon then a 'D' next to each other

Sorry - I should have made myself clear - it's "lightweight" when compared to the stock one. I've picked both up and Richard's must be about 60-70% of the weight.

Paul - you are quite right, given you just have a bit of tubing and pretty much b****** all else, your's is probably even lighter.

Richard's is a bit more "conventional" in that it's a single box ala the original.

Yep - piccy here

I'd estimate it ~60-70% of the weight of the original?

Plans Motorsport it is.

I am also getting Matt's IC fitted. All at the same time unfortunately, would have been nice to have them fitted a few weeks apart to see what difference each mod makes.

Anyway, as usual, you have not let me down, would you ever.

Thanks all

Trouble with the factory one is - other than it weighs a ton - it rusts very badly, doesn't fit properly and needs constant adjustment. I will be having a SS one made shortly - this will probably include the manifold etc. - SS is lighter, stronger and disipates the heat better - not to mention it does not rust (well no where near as bad)

Rob, £1500+VAT for the 2.5l one, I guess the 3.0l one will be the same too.

Paul C, how much is the Plans exhaust?

Thanks Ash.

Anybody know what the noise levels of both pipes are?

I heard both of them at Rockingham and the Vegantune one was quieter but I don't think using Paul's Plans one as a baseline is a good idea. Or is it?

Cheers
Anthony.

I would suspect that it falls within acceptable levels, or he would not be allowed to race.

He was out without the CATS on at Rockingham, that may make a difference.

Er race cars don't have to get below 98db which is often the limit on track days. You need to be very careful here or you'll end up with a car that only qualifies for a very small number of track days.

The lack of cats will obviously have made Pauls louder as you say though.
