I am thinking of getting these fitted to mine, question is - are they worth it??
Nathan , I know you had them fitted - do they make much difference?
If i go for these will I be able to fit corsa's and will the nitrons stop it hitting the bump stops?
Also who would you recomend to fit and set the car up ??
All comments welcome ( constructive please !!)

Plans come highly reccommended, having visited their site recently, I can see why.

They make a huge difference IMO, roll induced oversteer is gone, much more playful on and over the now higher limit. If you go for uprated springs then yep, corsa will be fine, maybe seek out some non linear progressive springs so as not to ruin the ride too much on the road. I was using 500Lb front and 650lb rear springs.
Plans are fantastic so whatever you choose I'd take it there for setup, my one warning would be that they will always try to sell you something more expensive eg, if you want to spend a grand on nitrons then they'll want you to spend 2 on ohlins.
I did some traction circle excercises with Andy W to get maximum mechanical grip out of either end by adjusting the dampers, well worth booking yourself on a carlimits day to get them adjusted properly (even if you reduce the damping for road use afterwards). I think you'd get a discount on a carlimts day by buying the dampers from them, don't bother with the lowering kit as you end up with a wishbone banging on a weather sheild protecting the engine and have to raise the height again.
Thanks Nathan, Matt, obes.
I am out with Andy W tomorrow at North weald, will have a chat with him then. Spoke to Graham at Plans- did try to sell me the olins(but he is trying to make a living! Very helpful guy, also very good hourly rate, am going done to have some "stuff" done after the service next week.

Well Graham managed to persuade me to buy the Ohlins and I used them for the first time today at Brands. I was on my own so had to (try) to do the set-up myself with back-up from Graham's instructions and his being at the end of the phone. He had offered to come but I declined.
Were they worth it? well using them I shaved 6 seconds of my lap time on the Indy circuit, my best today was a 56.7 seconds.
And this is with them not being set-up properly. With Grahams track side support I think I can get another couple of seconds off that time.
I was also on Avon ZZRs that don't have as much grip as the Yokos.
My own experience is that in order of benefits realisation changing your dampers is equal to; driver training, better tyres and a racing seat.
However as good as the Ohlins are I cannot recomend them for anyone who wants to drive predominantly on the road. Far too harsh for this.
For mixed track / road use I thoroughly and totaly recomend the Nitrons. I've used these and they mad a boatload of difference to the car.
Hope that helps

Paul, thanks for the info, was wanting a spring/damper set up that would be ok on the road, as i will only use the car on a couple of track days. Paul, what did you do with your nitrons??
Also would you recommend yoko's over the corsa's?
Driver training is ongoing, Mr Walsh is doing ok out of me!!
Sadly i think it is more a case of Enthusiasm over ability.

Well they were never really mine, they've gone back to Nitrons.

Emphaticaly yes but for "track only" use but if you ever face the prospect of driving in the wet the Corsa's would win even on the wet track. For a "few track days a year and the rest road use" then go with whatever the factory recomend. Yokos are for dry track only use. The factory has exhaustivly tested all variations of tyre for all uses and what they recomend does seem to be the best overall compromise.

Dear Alex,
To avoid any potential confusion the only Yokos I am talking about are the 048s. These are a street legal slick. I don't know anything about any of their other tyres. They are mandatory for the Yokohama mid engined series.

And by a strange twist of coincidence look what's popped up in the classified section...

great day - wet till around 10 then dried out. Did warn him you were there tomorrow. will be intrested to see what time you get ( and walshy gets) on the "circuit" in yours. There was a porker 4x4 turbo today - very quick car - walshy was a second or so quicker in that than in mine. Good day was had, apart from an old porker was waiting for a truck - rear brake problems. Have fun tomorrow. just about to book another day.
