Guys,

Quick one...When sitting in traffic etc etc, what does the RPM idle at?

Varies between ~850 and ~975 rpm on mine.

Never quite worked out why it sometime likes the higher rpm.

Thanks for your help Joust.

Mine seems down around the 500-600 mark. It takes 5 or 6 pushes of the button to get going when cold and occasionally the revs drop and cuts out when at t junctions and roundabouts etc. Need to get it sorted at first service.

That doesn't sound right to me.

On my "old" 2.5l you could change the idle speed by tensioning up the mount from the accelerator cable. It wasn't very elegant, but when mine was playing up (later found to be a duff lambda sensor) it did the trick and made things driveable.

Def. something for the first service

Thanks.

Have a few other little things also for 1st service. You would all laugh if I told you..... Offsets this as it is a great car to drive compared to a 3R though! The gear selection is heaven.

Have you ever thought of getting a job at Noble Joust?

Target idle speed (if memory serves) is 850rpm - it should be fairly close to that at all times. Let the chaps who are servicing it know and they'll sort it out for you.

Best Regards
Matt

The idle is adjustable. Since we don't have dealers here in the US to work on the car I have adjusted mine. Better done through the dealer though if you have one. Mine idles at 950 with AC off and about 850 with AC on.

Mine was alright to start with but then at about 2000 miles started being a right little hunt, but they sorted that at the factory and now it is sweet at about 875 after warm up.

I suppose it won’t run perfect if you blow all the exhaust gaskets on a couple of track days?
