My M12 seems to be running too hot. In traffic it stays just above 100, even with the heaters blasting.
I drove it at midnight to see if the ambient temperature and lack of traffic would help; I even hard-wired the fans to run constantly, but it still ran at 100-102.
Vegantune are gonna help next week, but I thought I'd see if you guys had any similar experiences/solutions first.

Is you car an older model where the fans are fixed directly to the rad?
If so the "fix" is a upgrage kit - 2 larger fans and a shroud, sorts the problem. takes a dealer around 1.5hrs to install. Hope that helps.
Yeah, it's a 2002 model so that could be worth a go. Although, even if I switch the car on and leave it to idle without driving it, it still builds up to 100 degrees within a few minutes. Surely it shouldn't need the assistance of full fans - whatever size - just to sit and idle?
And how do I check the accuracy of my temp guage, Green?

Borrow or buy a thermometer to read the actual temperature at the stat housing and see how this compares to the gauge reading. You can buy an ordinary domestic thermometer for a few quid or a lazer guided infrared jobbie for £100 or so.

You need them more then than when moving because there is no airflow to take away the heat.
Martin.
Ah, yeah, of course. At 80 on the motorway it gets down to about 95ish. Fair enough. Looks like a fan upgrade.
See if yours look like

If they don't then that will be your problem - back to any dealer to sort out.

Just wanted to say thank you - again - to everybody on the forum and join everyone in their continued salutes to the factory and Vegantune.
They charged me £100 for the fans and parts and posted them to Vegantune who are fitting them for f@*k all.
Can't wait to get it back, filled with the extra little things that Vegantune tempted me with.
