So currently owner of a 2002 2.5 with 9000 miles on the clock. Since ownership have had a history of annoying niggles (lambda sensor's, exhaust gaskets and the like) but that's not really the point of this thread.

Just picked it back up from Mole Valley today to have the latest problems fixed as it was stalling when running hot. Turned out to cracked manifolds with the original welds not standing up to 9000 miles of use. Was informed by Mole Valley (by the way Warren down at Mole Valley I can really recomend) that all they can really do with the 2.5 manifolds is weld them as they are not available anymore from Noble, and to quote someone from Noble apparently 'Manifolds for 2.5's are as rare as rocking horse *hit'. If they completely go then the only option for me the owner is to get a new manifold created from scratch at around £1600

This doesn't seem right to me. I own a car which isn't even three years old yet, but what I would consider to be a basic spare part is no longer available from Noble. What else is no longer available and are 2.5 owner's effectively being left high and dry.

That do other 2.5 owner's think ?

Simon perhaps you would like to chip in also?

Cheers,

Simon.

Simon, even though I have a 3 litre( early one ) Mine has just had its service and I have been told both my manifolds have cracked!! Also bob at the factory did say they are likley to go again at some point!! So the only reliable answer is to get some cast ones made. Bob said that mattFP was looking at this option, I have spoken to hin and he is getting them done for me ( awaiting a lead time at mo) Very helpful guy, and they are a lot cheaper than £1600 - around 60% cheaper in fact ( this is for a small batch run i believe)I am sure if you email him or ask on here he will be able to help. I guess it will depend if any other 2.5 owners have a need for some or maybe one of you could convince the factory to by some from Matt,so they do have a solution in the future!!! Hope this helps.
Alex.

I think there's some sort of EU law that says a manufacturer has to ensure a supply of spares for X years?
May not apply to an SVA but surely must apply to Ford?

It's presumably not a Ford part?

Try speaking to vegantune. I know they've been developing an exhaust system - not sure if that includes the manifold though...

Oops, didn't realise they were made by Noble.

Can't comment on the specifics as I never had the issue on my 2.5 - but I can relate to my Audi Ur Quattro.

For years (>15) I had the same issue with the WR mainfold. Over 3000 of the cars were made by Audi (that ikkle little company) but the problem was a persistant one.

Every 2 or 3 years I had to pay to have it welded back up. It didn't worry me as it was a "known" problem and, just like any car, is something that as long as it was watched, never really had a problem.

After 16 years, Quattro Sports (now QST) found me a replacement system that's never failed.

Don't therefore look too badly on Noble, at least it seems there are 3rd parties working on the problem for a car now 'well out of production'. Matt "FP" is a capable guy, and I'm sure he won't be the only place to offer a solution.

I'm personally amazed, given the volumes, that M12's have such a large after market following - if my Ur is anything to go buy, we should thank our bejesus that we have the support that you've imtomated!

Simon,

Please don't even consider paying out that kind of money to have new manifolds fabricated.

I have looked into this, and indeed there does seem to be a shortage of these bespoke parts from SA at the moment. However, we are now onto the case and will get back to you very soon regarding future availability.

Simon,

Thanks very much for the response......appreciated.

So just so I'm clear, what is the official Noble stance on the supply of spare parts for cars which are no longer in production (i.e 2.5 and GTO3's)?

Cheers,

Simon.
