General wear and tear
Discussion
Guys,
Don't want to make a big song and dance about this but what would you all be willing to accept as general wear and tear?
for example, my 3R is 10 months old, has 8600 miles on the clock. It has magnolia leather. The leather bolster on the drivers side has worn very badly and in fact I pointed it out to my dealer at the 1000 mile service. I have a split in the gear knob leather and the foot well mat on the drivers side has a big hole in it.
Save your breath if your going to lecture me about my expectations because I guess everyones will be different. However I didn't expect the leather quality should be brought into question on such a new car.
Anyway, dealer has informed me that I will have to pay for the repair/replacement. Suggestions for the drivers chair are to spray it. Has anyone got it retrimed - if so at what cost? If its best to get it retrimmed then I'm wondering if now would be a good time to get some padding in there too? That said it would seem I'm going to have to do this every year.
No flamings please just wanted to get an understanding if my expectations are higher than everybody elses.

I had the same thing on the drivers seat; the leather is very thin (although better than on the very first models). I had my (black) leather re-connolised (FOC by my dealer) on the worn area and it lasted well after that, but the line from Noble was that they would not replace the seat under warranty.
The carpet in the footwell is a known weakness due to the way your foot rests on it and moves.
The carpet is not the really tough, but hard and 'wirey' polyester stuff as that wouldn't look so nice. However it's an easy fix, go to B&Q or any other carpet shop, buy one "tile" of the industrial black carpet, and cut to size over what's gone out and stick it down with impact adhesive. It takes about 10 minutes, costs about £3 for the carpet tile and isn't really something I'd bother my dealer with.
In fairness to Noble many cars suffer from this unless you put car mats in (which by definition are much stronger stuff) - but on the flip side, there isn't really a car mat for the Noble that would stop this.
The alternative is to get a normal rubber car mat and cut to size a nice shaped bit and stick that to the worn area.
The seats probably suffer from being soft leather - but I don't know as I've always had Alcantara and it's never had any 'wearing' issues. Again it's a "presentation / feel vs. longevity" thing really - seems like if you replace the soft leather with some harder/smoother stuff it's fine - but that's probably down to each user's preference.

Or, you could do what I did....overlay the runners in the floor with some stainless steel. It keeps your feet from tearing up the carpet on the runners everytime you get in and out. I could see that getting torn up pretty quickly.

By the way, it's hard to see in the photo, but it is actually etched with "POWERED BY Ford" Yeah, I live in Ford country and the runners were manufactured and etched at a local Ford prototype plant for me. I just had to do the final polishing and mounting of the raised Ford emblem and dab of Ford blue paint under it.

Maybe cover it with a floormat like this one:

Lucozade, if your car is 10 months old surely the original 12 month factory warranty covers it or have I (A) misunderstood your post ( most likely!) or (B) is the warranty not as good as it should be ?
To be clear my car still has a warranty.
Unfortunately the factory have refused to fix the seat although I'm waiting on a call from Bob Sharpe to confirm this is still the case.
I had the same problem with my t350c (I know wrong forum) where the fake leather gear and handbrake gaters tore (and came unstuck).
The dealer refused to restick them because they were torn, so replaced them both under warranty with leather items so it didn't happen again.
Surely Noble should take the same approach?
