Help! - Does anyone know what the bearing(s) on rear axle are neareast the wheel that hold the hub - mine I think has all but collapsed and I'm stranded - I have taken off the Brake disc and the axle is as loose as hell (wobles) - I need to know where to get some new bearing(s) from - are they std ford parts or anything?

I have tried tightning the centre nut - which Has stopped the wobble but then it came loose again - how ever I didn't have the right tools to do it up really tight - 200 lb ft seems very high - the wheels nuts are supposed to be around 90 ib ft or so I'm told. Thanks for the prompt replies - Hopefully i might be able to limp to West tunning so that I can get the hub off and have a proper look - I don't have a puller.

Just found the email from AG - 270nm for the big *rear* bearing nut.
Is this the thing that kept coming lose on his (er my) car?
If so the underlying cause was knackered drive shafts that were vibrating it loose all the time.
Not quite, the underlying problem was a worn hub carrier that caused the lock nut to come undone.
It just happeend to be diagnosed whilst the drive shafts where being replaced.
