I am just about to book a car limits day. Can someone help point me in the right direction.

Does a "airfield training day" do what I need, or should I wait for a "Trackday" the one I am about to book is at North Weald.

Will Andy Walsh be the chap doing it. The bumph says that "All our Instructors" are xxx trained, but you guys all said I should go with Andy W.

Thanks. GN

Opps, booked it already. It was a cancellation for 3 weeks time and after that they are booked up till September. Hopefully by the end of the day I will be showing the others how to use a Noble properly.

Tips and hints please. (would you bother with insurance for a day like this?)

Greg,

Tip - empty your mind of any specialist driving techniques you THINK you know first (and learn to feel the force Luke!)

Insurance - I wouldn't pay for it - this surely will be the safest place you'll be all day - a max of 4 cars with instructors in them on a closed track!

No point insuring, and you won't be able to even if you wanted to.

Also insurers will go nuts if you mention its on an airfield as they have visions of collisions with jumbojets killing 400 passengers. Which isn't likely as you aren't 'airside' and there are no jumbo jets, so in theory your road policy should cover you. Its used for a market on Sunday!

I've made a provisional booking but its so far ahead its annoying. Did you get the cancellation by ringing up?

No, I checked last night and earliest date was 13th Sept IIRC then when I went back online to book it this morn, the new earliest one was 28th June! Happy days.

Would have been an idea to get 4 of us Noblers on the same day, then they could really focus on our handelling characteristics and we could all make sure our cars were spot on.

I will possibly be up for another one later in the year, as its the same price as a track day and more beneficial, don't need insurance, might be less harsh to car/tyres etc.

Is anyone else up for booking a 4-some in Sept/oct/Nov?

Normal insurance should cover it unless there's a specific exclusion on your policy, which is unlikely as it's basically "driver training" and not a trackday/race.

You could in theory reclaim the cost from your company as it's "training" or "health and safety due diligence"; you drive as part of your job don't you, well ...

On the day put a bung in the bleed hole of the power steering resevoir and strap it with tape to stop it leaking.

Make sure your fluid levels and tyre pressures are ok beforehand.

Take a foot pump for doing tweeks as recommended.

Get a good night's sleep. I was feeling fairly knackered after the day with Don Palmer.

Enjoy it

He doesn't do weekends generally as North Weald isn't available then. I've provisionally booked out a Friday in Oct along with a friend in a Porsche, but need to offer first refusal to a couple of mates on the other slots. If they aren't up for it I'll offer it here if anyone else wants to do a day with another noble.

Thanks for the tips Richard, really looking forward to it now.

Good idea about putting it through the books, can't see why I souldn't be alowed to push it through.

I would be up for another in October Dan if your mates can't do it and if this one goes well etc.
