Have just finished sorting my Omnifi DMP1. So heres some pics...
It ended up having an 'upgrade' as I blew up the Hard Drive by plugging the wrong DC adaptor into it :paperbag:. Luckily it uses standard laptop drives so i got a bigger one for it. (80GB as opposed to the standard 20).
I'm not entirely happy with the controller position as its hard to see the screen in 3rd or 5th!. It will be moved when i take the jigsaw to the centre console! - It's just a 1 din size removeable face plate with a single wire running to a junction box behind the existing head unit. A phono pair then connects to the Aux in on the sony.

The Hard Drive is mounted in a cartridge which slots into a housing behind the passenger seat. This is linked to the junction box and to the mini wireless connector that sits on the parcel shelf. This then communicates with the wireless network in the house and synchronises the music with my collection on the PC.

I didn't have a remote for ages in the car as the previous owner had lost it ! I got one of the Sony Mushroom thingies.

OK, I know I should have just bought an ITrip, but I have a real soft spot for gadgets !! :)

Now you mention it, they're not as pricey as you might think.!! Looks like I was lucky to find one already in the UK. Car radio places will probably charge about £50 to fit them.

You can upgrade them with Fujitsu or Toshiba 2.5" laptop drives. No soldering or anything, just unscrew and plug in!
The PC software for managing the Mp3s is OK. Once you're in range of your house, you click synchronize and it updates the hard drive in the car to anything you've added on your PC.

Yes, there is a small D-Link wi-fi adaptor that is connected to the DMP1 via a USB cable.
The software comes with it. It's called simplecentre and is only for windows.
I have all my music collection on i-tunes on my mac. (that took a while to rip every CD!!)
I had to copy all the Mp3 files onto my PC. Luckily they're networked together so I just dragged and dropped the whole folder.
