Talking to a Noble dealer at the weekend, and he said that Noble have two cars under development right now, the M14, and a derivative of the M12/M400 line with something like 550bhp and >500nm torque. Car will have a longer wheelbase than M400 due to longitudinal engine, possibly sourced from Jaguar. Lee Noble is apparently tooling around in the prototype and had reported that "it made the M400 seem sluggish". Any truth in this? I've not kept up with this forum so sorry if posted elsewhere/is bullshit*

I heard from a dealer that the M14 was set for 500bhp so there may be something in it. Not sure about the uprated m12 though, the M14 is slipping enough without other projects in the middle!

Lee's cars is probably designed around the race regs though?

Dealer told me 500bhp 500nm and a new gearbox.

Then again, he also tried to put me off going for a Porsche next

Hi Kev

It sounds logical, and is what I would do , but I have to admit I haven't heard anything. Time to get onto my secret special spies in the factory (or failing that, just ring Simon )

Fingers crossed, if only to see the market flooded with cheap M400s

Next gen M12 would be excellent news!

Will it have a restyle?

Will the roof come off?

That would be nice!!

Targa style please, like the carrara GT and Konigmewhatsit.

Dear All,

AFAIK there are no Plans for a 500bhp M12, longitudinal or otherwise. To the best of my knowledge the M14 Development M12 race car is running around that power figure though.

However if anyone would like a 500BHP M12, we can be of assistance. FX500 is in development.

Best Regards
Matt

Sounds exactly like what the next evolution of the M12 should be. I was told when i got my car back in '02 that the M12 would hopefully go on to be their "911"

As i've mentioned in another post, with the aero work that the M14 has undergone it makes perfect sense to recoup the dev costs by applying the lessons learnt to the M12. I think an M12 with a better top-end and better resolved styling and interior really would be an almost untouchable package.

and as Nathan says - Roll on those £40k M400's

DanH - Surely a GT2 will just seem too tame compared to this?!

Stuh, I can't see a GT2 ever being too tame for me. Even a GT03 is bordeline ridiculous with 352 bhp!

If I was really dumb, its not that hard to liberate a big chunk of extra power (&lag) from a GT2. It just means a voided warranty which isn't amusing on a 30k engine!

I think I've peaked early. The GT03 may be the fastest car I ever own. Thats pretty depressing!

Hey Justin! If anyone's going to know I thought it should be you. Let me know if it's true. Met the Noble sales guy when he parked up next to me in the pub- he was trying damned hard to get me out of the Stradale and into an M400. Bloody impressive piece of kit and even sounds meatier than the earlier models. This guy wasn't a patch on you though- wheeled out the big gun 500bhp thing when I didn't bite. You'd have said "get in"; he didn't....

Silly boy then Kevin - I'll have to take you out in mine sometime soon!

All my digging has shown up is that there are some developments going on in the aftermarket department that take some of the race car learning and plly it back to the road.

It would be totally stupid to assume that Noble are "standing still" though and only developing the M14 - clearly the M12 is now in it's "mid life" and further things could surely be expected, but I would be gobsmacked if it was *just* a power hike, it's much more likely to be a whole package change IMHO.

Guess we will just have to wait for the factory to release something official

i know its a Ford engine and i shouldn't take the micky, but is the engine capable of producing 500bhp for everyday use?!

It's half an Aston Martin V12, and if you wander around what the US guys get up to with the engine then 500bhp is rather conservative after the "normal" internal changes.

It's not going to be the same characteristics as the "mere" 425bhp engine, but 166bhp/litre is hardly state of the art for forced induction is it!

Excellent! Noble should produce a 500bhp M14 200mph supercar!

Well if the M400 power / ride relationship is anything to go by the M14 could well be faster than the M400. It'll have similar suspension and as you say the engine can go a long way in terms of power outputs.
Interesting.
