Just picked up my toy from Kerridges whom deserve a round of applause as do Noble for both agreeing to fix a brocek ball joint and hub carrier FOC (even after 14 months)

And to the guys at Kerridges for also spotting a part brocek are on the suspension and fixing that FOC too!!

Unfortunatly the terrible rattle from the tunnel between the seats is STILL THERE. :banghead:

Sounds like clanging metal and tends to stop when I'm accellerating and then start when I let off!! Very annoying on the motorway.

Now........on the way homw there was a huge psssssstttttttttttt noise as I accellerated out of a service station, I pulled over and found the tube coming out of the driver side turbo had blewn off. Tried to push back on but it blew off again after 2 minutes.

I am sure I can fix it all back on tightly later when cooler but do you think I will have damaged anything else by this happening or by driving 20 miles with the pipe off.?

Its the pipe that comes out of the turbo then up and on to the long metal tube that runs, drivers side from front to back and then goes into the IC.

Help on all points (please help with rattle) much appreciated.

(back in 2 hours- tennis lesson now)

Thanks, Greg

Shouldn't have done any damage at all - except damage the performance of the car!

Is the rattle related to which gear you are in? I've just had a rattle fixed (I hope) that only happened in 1st, 3rd & 5th.

Won't of done any damage apart from the air won't have been filtered, but if you didn't drive through a sand pit you'll be fine.

Best is to get some petrol and carefully wipe all the parts (rubber hose and metal tube), then tighten up carefully until it grabs, and then half a turn more.

Very thin films of oil, or over tightening, make them come apart as I've found out.

Have not tested the rattle in all gears but what was it if you know dan?

Wierd that its been at Kerridges twice now and they said they found it both times but haven't.

Its so annoying but I feel like an arse going back again!

Am I right in saying that there are 2 duct pipes coming from the side of the car round to the turbo on each side?

At first sight I thought the pipe had come apart as there are 2 open ends, but I hope they are cooling pipes from the side intakes!?

Please put my mind at rest!!

Yep, the ducted pipes run in up down & around and then are open on the end pointing at the engine

Pheeewww.

Right, I'm off to fix the pipe work and hunt for the rattle.

Still if the dealer couldn't find it, then I doubt I will.

Greg,

If the noise is still present, then please do not hesitate to return the car to Kerridges. I'm sure they'll be as determined as you to sort it.

In the unlikely event that you have any problems, please e-mail me from my profile and I'll see what I can do from this end.

Thanks Simon,

Kerridges are being brilliant about this. They had seen this thread and called to talk through a resolve.

I feel a bit bad taking up their time just for a rattle, but I am sure we all know how a bad one can ruin the enjoyment factor of a journey!

Kerridges are very keen to help and I am sure we will get it sorted soon.

I am actually booked in at 4.30pm today at KwiK Fit!

Just to borrow their ramp to have a nose up the tunnel and look for anything obvious thats come astray!

Thanks again Simon, I can assure you and all that Kerridges are a great dealer with their customers very much in mind.

Greg,

IMHO, Rattles are seriously annoying and detremental to the overall enjoyment of the marque so don't apologise about these! I'm sure both Bob and Simon will recall with fond memory the shannanigans we had a concerning the rattle R77 was born with (now excised!).
