Road Angel Navigator
Discussion
I'm using a Navman IC510 which is a pure sat nav system. You can then download data files from this site
www.pocketgps.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php
which you then add to the "Points of interest" in teh Navman.
Hey presto satnav and speed camera for less than the price of a Road Angel.

I have the Navman 510 and find it to be too quiet even with the volume on max, I am hoping the Road Angel Navigator will be louder. My local Halfords told me last week that they still do not have any Navigators as there are still problems with them and Blackspot have delayed the release.

The only issue with POI solutions is that they're not directional. The Road Angels know which way the cameras point and only warn in that diretion.
Thats true, although I find having the camera superimposed on the map offers some compensation.
I have a TomTomGo 700 and its ok for radar warnings, although a pain to setup with that free database. However tomtoms database of cameras is meant to be woefully bad at the moment, so better a free one than that.
I have had mine for about a week.
Although itmight be a bit expensive compared to solutions mentioned here, it is very small and contains the full camera- ds2 and specs database that is in most RA products.
It works more effectively than other solutions for speed detection IMHO
AS for nav, all controlled by touch screen by postcode or address and it works very well. Only got confused once! the GPS antennae is very powerful and is located at the back of the unit.
One prolem i am having with mine is taht the unit freezes after say 2 hours use- and then you have to turn it off and restart it- as its based on windoze I wonder if this is the problem!
anyway lets hope they dont all do that!

Octane, which product are you reporting on here?
I'm looking for a small/portable unit (so Tom Tom is a No No as I'd like to pocket it!) colour (2D & 2D view) satnav with speed camera location and alert facilities and preferably the ability to see Europe maps too.

the Road Angel Navigator
it will do everything you seem to require and its very compact
Thanks yes, just checked it out and it does seem to cover it - how do you find the buttons - they seem a little small to me?
Also I noticed that none of these units detects red light cameras - I wonder why that is as they are fixed after all?!
I note thet European maps are a further £200 which makes it a tad pricey - Martin (V6GTO) had a Tom Tom 700 and it seemed to come with all of Europe on it for the same price as the Navigator?!

IIRC I paid 428 at Dixons-Gatwick duty-free for TT Go 700 which covers all of Europe. I use the free pocketgps scamera database.

Just to add that the only position I've found for the TT Go 700 in the M400 is on the passenger dash held in place with the w/screen sucker, which is kind of a long reach! Then again it's got a remote control so you can use that if you just can't do the safest thing and pull over instead of fiddling whilst driving!
