...is in tomorrow's issue.

We won the same contest last year, but since then cars like the Ford GT, Ferrari F430, Lotus 240R, BMW M5 and Porsche Boxster have been launched.

They're all fantastic, but they've all been beaten by a certain little stick of dynamite from Leicestershire!

Unfortunately, we were pipped to the post by the Porsche 997 Carrera S, but the Noble M400 still came second overall.

I won't spoil your enjoyment of the article by giving away any more info, but it's thrown up some interesting and conclusive data that's quite impressive.

How exactally could you do that, you just ruined the most important part!!

(excellent news though, I must say I thought the 430 and M5 might best us)

Come on Mr. Postman!! Run like the wind.

Ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......That's brilliant news, well done....and at the same time not so brilliant news! Some of us are trying to buy M400's!!!

Oh well....were's the number for Maranello's, guess there are going to be some cheap F430's about in the next week or so.

Let's just say that clearly the Porsche won it on cup holders for the copious amounts of coffee that the road testers must have had doing such a grueling job

Oh, and the Noble's performance was in a different class, the picture of the Noble crossing the line at Rockhingham after one lap, and then dots for every other car says it all on how special this little bit of tea powered Leicestershire rocket is!

Go buy it, and then look smug (or worry that you will really really have to buy that M400....)

It just makes a nonsense of these comparison articles. As a "DRIVERS" car the M400 is streets ahead of the Porsche.

Ah - but only if you buy c****y McD's coffee.

If you got for a skinny double latte with cc shot from Costa, then you get it in one of those nice cups with the squishy heat cover. Those then sit nicely in the side pockets, wedged in.

Cupholders for the discerning coffee drinker are therefore not needed, tight side pockets are....

Maybe the autocar team were worried about looking biased, giving the trophy to Noble again, what with the connections and all. And Mr Harris trying to get a deal on one!!

I suppose the Porche is a very well rounded car for the driving enthusiast who wants a great car on road and track.

Brilliant to be 2nd to a 997 IMO and to have won last year!

I've often thought that people will pay more attention to the commentary and the performance figures than the mags eventual winner.

It's nice to win, but in some ways the commentary on the Noble, it's glowing praise (much more so than what was said about the 997 in it's section) against the Lotus, the constant references in other sections to the Noble, and just the massive difference in the figures means any 'drivers car driver looking to purchase' would probably look at the top 5 or so cars.

Kudos where kudos is deserved, the Noble still beat the F430 (£130k, currently selling at £150k), the FordGT (£100k+), and the AMV8!

To be pipped to the post (one could think it was down to the 997 being 'better' in the wet than the Noble) by the 997, a car with 30+ years and £billions of development has got to be the statement of the year of how good the M400 really is...

Have you driven a 997S? They are very nice, and the adaptive suspension really is a good compromise as it can be soft for crappy road, yet at the flick of a switch stiffens for the right environments. The M400 is fab, but its not as well rounded in a lot of departments.

I reckon I am in a position to comment being a former Noble owner for three years and now an owner of a 997 C2S. The two cars are completely different so making any comparison is pointless. The Noble is a fantastic drivers car offering thrilling performance. The Porsche, however, is a car for everyday use which even the other half is happy to drive. I sometimes wonder if I should own both!

I rest my case. From a man who would know. The M400 is the better "DRIVERS" car.

Stonking.... what else can you say? 4.8 secs a lap quicker than the Porsche (and 4.1secs quicker than the GT40)round the in-field circuit.
But remember folks there will undoubtably be better/more experienced/quicker drivers than you on your next time out on the track, so don't overcook it thinking you can beat everything else out there. Hate to see another of those Oulton shots posted recently. Here endeth the sermon..

Worth adding also that the infield plays to the Noble's strenghts and those Corsa's are worth a fair bit too.

Although as mentioned in the article, the Corsa's are much better in the wet than some other "cup" tyres.

Michelin cup tyres can be quite scary in the wet

Well done Noble!

Well done indeed. Its a pitty the Noble didn't feature in the film on their web site
