First mod for me is the faulks bov just because the standard setup isn't right in my opinion.

Great relief that it doesn't sound like a Scania pulling up at the lights, tremendous improvement going up through the gears.

I'm not going to say anything else because it will sound like a paid advert.

What kind of sound does Matt's BOV make? I have a Tial and the high pitched sound is very annoying after a while. Could someone send a short .mpg with the sound? Dean

yup - except I've angled the business end of mine down a bit as I don't want pfffft effect. TBH mine doesn't sound any louder than the standard vent through the air filters

I've yet to "hear" Matt's BOV make a noise, but then I do have the air filters in the "classic" place and hence the induction noise from them is likely to overwhelm any other noise.

FP BoV is basically quiet IMHO (thank goodness).
..and my filters are in the Bog Standard position

You know, I'm beginning to think I've got hypersensitive hearing - I've always been able to hear my 3r venting out through the filters from the "normal" position but no-one
else seems to hear that sound.

Must be way louder with the air filters forward :-)

Actually it isn't when you've just fitted the Dymags AND the BoV and then take it to to a TD. I can't tell which makes it quicker ... probably a combination of both mods! I should have done it incrementally but was rather impatient.

Whatever ... it seems to go faster.

I suspect in order of go fasterness it's the IC, then the Dymags followed by the BoV.

Matt - I need the catch tank! ... must be trying harder I guess.

Oh and finally **** Happy 1st Anniversary *** to my M400. Best year's motoring to date!

Do you still get the same darth Vada noises through the air filters once the bov is fitted?

(filters in "correct" place on mine and I would like to get a bov but don't want to loose the noises I get out of the filters.

Yes - the BOV only stops the turbos stalling after them - to that end you still get all the same DV noises

I managed to hear the BOV today, but lets just say I was "pressing on somewhat" on the road from the M23 to Petworth.... It's a very slight "psssstttt" and not at all distracting.

I did a bit of "pressing on" myself today and realised you can hear it with the windows shut - I'd had my window open the day before and it was drowned by everything else.

As you say, still only a slight "pssstt" and quieter than the recirculating one on my ex supra tt.

I've fitted the FP BOV and I'd say I get far less 'darth' noises and can make the BOV squeek when trying.

The performance through the gears is transformed...

I've been asking this same question to a number of people because I want the noises from having the cones moved to the front, but I also want the BOV which if it quietens the noise, will defeat the object.
Edited by someone who got confused asking the question, let alone understanding the answers!

I can't say the Darth Vader noises have changed at all since I added the BOV.

You still get them when you lift off at 3500rpm, and if you think about it, the BOV only works when the inlet gets above what the turbos normally work at (i.e. 1bar+), and hence it can't affect the noise at medium revs as I'd imagine the turbos haven't got the umph to get above 1 bar.

It sounds identical to me (and I'm quite an expoer you know on the DV noises ) except on full chat you now get a "psssttt" as well. You don't get any psssttt before around 5000rpm it seems....

(Mind you, I have the BOV with the vacuum feed to it - I don't remember seeing that on every other one I've seen....)

If you want a noisy one talk to Vegantune.

The proper reason for having a BoV is improved tubo life and throttle response IMO. If you look in Demon Tweeks catalogue you'll find them with twin air horns though.

Agreed. There's not much noise difference with the FP bov if your filters are forward mounted. There a wee bit of video here where you may be able to hear it.
It's from my car just after fitting the FP Bov. (filters in fwd pos.)

Greg,

This link should work,

Justin has our BOV and the last time I spotted your car it was on its way to the body shop for final paint and finish.

Hope this helps.

I think you misunderstood. I don't particularly want a noisy BOV,( oh and I do understand the reasons for having
one) I would just prefer to not lose the noise from the filters if I fit one.
