Hi Guys
Had a few questions about the Noble GTO 3R. I am currently running a Lotus Exige S2 as a every day run around/ track day car.

I would be looking to do about 7k a year including 7-10 track days. First question is about the Nobles ability to do that. And what sort of bill for consumables should I expect (as the Lotus is quite good when it comes to this)?

The second question is I have a friend who had some issues with the engine etc, is this a one off or is it quite common placed?

And finally is there any must have goodies which I should look out for if I should choose to take the plunge?
cheers Jamie

Track day sump is essential if you're going to be on track.

I do an average of 5-7500 miles a year in mine and a few track days, i would suggest a upgraded intercooler, with fan. nitrons and changing to corsa tyres. Had very few problems at all, pads seem to wear quite well, tyres seem to last as well, as long as you arnt drifting round every corner!!
Also a lot easier to get in and out of than your current car. Go for it, i am sure you wont regret it!!

I don't think it will be too far removed from the Lotus. I moved from a 135r Sport. Track days? Depends if you drift or not. If you do, like any car, you will need tyres regularly.

I have had no problems with the engine at all. Depending what you go for, 3, 3R or M400. If a 3, make sure it has a track day sump and that all the mods have been done. If in doubt, get the chassis number and call the factory. They should be able to give you the history.

Go for a FP Intercooler and maybe the BOV.

Apart from that, the Noble is pretty much an unbeleivable machine.

Go test drive one. But be warned, you may end up with a black eye. Remember, you MUST give the keys back once test driven. The car only becomes yours once paid for!

I have an Elise at the moment which will be going up for sale this week, to help pay for a Noble, I drove one for the first time at the weekend and that has firmly converted me.

Anybody mad enough to use one as an everyday car?

Loads of Noble owners use it as an everyday car, myself included (although I use the train for the majority of weekdays). I'm sure some of them will be along soon to tell you.

No probs about using every day - better than Elise for access, torque, comfort, etc - my experience suggests it's the track that takes the toll - hence tips above now about e.g. extra cooling.

If you get a 2.5 make sure it DOESN'T have the Magnetti Marelli ECU. You need to get one with the current MBE unit. (or another 3rd party one)

The throttle cable may well stick with hot track day use unless it's been rerouted away from the hot central tunnel and front turbo.

Newer cars have the cable routed through the sill. Check and see how it's routed and if appropriate get the factory do the modification for you.

Also check the exhaust bracket mounting which tend to break but are easily (and frequently) re-welded.

80 miles every day.

The steering lock will drive you mad but the road noise on poor surfaces is worse

Aside from the M400 so what would be a later 3R, 04?
