Dear Justin,
You are very kind. I am indeed the Yokohama Midengined Sportscars Series Production Class Champion of 2005, having finished at Oulton on Saturday. I think this is a first series win for the M12. To be honest its a bit of an embarassment, the production class is not well populated and the competition tends to be Elises so its not really much of a challenge. The real fun is finding my basicaly production car keeping up with the middle of the pack of the motorsports cars, that was until saturday. I'd never been to Oulton before. Due to a bad tyre choice I managed just 1 lap on what was really a dry track on wet tyres before the first test session closed. In the next I went out on drys and promptly put the car into the wall coming out of Lodge corner on my second ever lap. The replacement front upright took ages to arrive so I went out to qualify for the race with 3 laps under my belt. In the race real I'll admit to being a bit timid; only 7 laps under my belt, in the wet, on wets and if anyone's ever driven Oulton it is a NASTY circuit until you know it. Gavan Kershaw was miles out in front leading the faster Elise, the Shelsley and an S2. Then there was a gaggle of Elises, a 340R, Atoms and the last of them a Ferrari cup 355. My car was capable of keeping up with them but I wasn't. By the end of the race I was just beginnig to get to grips with the track and I'm pretty sure next time out I'll do better.

In the afternoon we had an attempt at an endurance race but as Justin will tell you it was abandoned after the third red flag incident. Still it meant we had 3 goes at starting and I'm pretty certain there will be some pretty good in car video from that.

For those of you tempted to go for it, be there in 2006! The excitement of finding yourself alongside an amercian muscle car, both sideways and full on the power out of a corner in the wet is pretty hard to beat.

All in all I've had a pretty awfull season with only 2 out of 6 races with the car working properly but thanks to its astonishing ability, Matt Faulk's engine fettling and Plan's Motorsports support I still managed to come first in the class. I've also had brilliant support from the factory, from Lee himself, Simon H, Simon (parts) and Dave. To all those and the many more thanks and well done. I'm already looking forward to 2006!
Regards
PauL C

Just remember this isn't how to do it...

And it's not just the skinny tyre classics that get it wrong...

Luckily they both got away with it without a scratch!

Hi Paul

It's Steve with the now seriously dented Red and White Elise!

Congratulations for winning the production class - if you keep on improving the way you have in the last few races you'll definately be up there at the sharp end next year.

Did you see my incident with the mad italian in the endurance race and more importantly did you manage to get any of it on video? If you did I would definately like to have a look at it. Any chance of putting it up on the net?

Congrats Paul - and all done with such modesty in yer lil ol' 2.5L! Shame you didn't get a chance to really get to know Oulton - it's a cracking circuit once you get familiar with it, but can bite nastily if any indiscretions are noted. The corner that continues to terrify me is Druids - even in the dry in summer it still seems damp and slippery (trees overhead?) and the armco always seems to beckon...probably safest in the wet!

Dear Steve, (appols for the misspelt "ph" on the personal mail)
Yes I should have caught it all, I saw the initial bit and remember it quite vividly thinking "OH no I'm in a rolling accident and am going to be collected" but thankfully for me you went of to the right and the other cars and I took to the left.

The tape is with Justin at the moment, he's going to do his stuff with it and post it up on Noble TV.

Should be exciting stuff.

Sorry but work is manic at the moment (just got in tonight) so it'll be the weekend before I get the video off the tap.
